Last night I went to bed at 11pm, woke up, but didn’t get
up, twice during the night, finally waking/getting up at 7am.
MT came over at 10:15am and we took a taxi to Jardin de
Botanico. We walked to the nearest
entrance and Teresa started talking to a guard and I could tell she was
disappointed. I noticed a sign
advertising that the Orchid, Flowers and Artesans fare at the park is August 6th
thru the 11th so we’re 2 days early.
I was just glad I didn’t have anything to do with today’s botched
plan. I was just along for the ride.
Teresa suggested we go to Parque Arvi as MT had never been
on the metro cable cars.
We walked through Parque Explora to Estacion Universidad
where we took the metro to Estacion Acevedo where we transferred to the cable
cars. MT didn’t seem nervous at all but
Teresa, as usual, was a little nervous.
At the park they had more food and arts booths set up than
usual. Teresa and MT had a couple empanadas
and I had a cup of fresh strawberries.
We stopped at the restroom and followed a path to the
sideroad where we soon caught a bus to Hotel Piedras Blancas. Outside a guard said something about 200
people inside were having lunch. They
let us in and while the patio was full, inside was almost empty and waiters
were clearing tables. They sat us at a
table near the entrance and Teresa and MT had a bowl of soup and I had their
pepper steak and a limonada de coco. The
total bill came to 47,800 ($14.95) and I tipped the waiter 5mil.
The ladies were in no hurry to return to Envigado so we sat
in comfortable chairs by the front entrance and they chatted for awhile. Since our plan was to go to Jardin de
Botanico not to go high in the mountains Teresa had convinced me to wear a
light sleeveless t-shirt and I started feeling cold. About 45 minutes later we left and took a bus
back to the park entrance and after a long line of cub scouts we got on the
metro cable back to Medellin . The metro train was pretty full but at least
not cattle car full and MT got a seat that someone gave up for her.
We got off at the Envigado station and took a taxi. We dropped MT off by her apt and then we
returned to ours.
6,011 steps today.
Joke of the day
A
middle-aged woman has a heart attack and is taken to the hospital. While on the operating table, she has a
near-death experience.
During that
experience, she sees God and asks if this is it.
God says no
and explains that she has another 30-40 years to live.
Upon her
recovery she decides to just stay in the hospital and have a facelift,
liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tuck - you name it, she had it.
She even has
someone come in and change her hair color.
She figures
since she's got another 30 or 40 years she might as well make the most of it.
She walks
out of the hospital after the last operation and is killed by an ambulance
speeding up to the hospital.
She arrives
in front of God and asks, "I thought you said I had another 30-40
years?"
"Oh sorry," says God.
"I didn't recognize you."
