Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once during the night, woke up at 5:30, getting up at 6:30.
I left the apt at 8:15 and completed my workout in Smartfit.
While there I met a gringo named Stacey from Canada. After, I had a latte in Ganso
y Castor. I left a peanut in a close small tree and another in a further
large tree. About 30 minutes later I took these photos of the red squirrel
checking out the peanut and eventually taking it higher up in the tree.
SQUIRREL 1-3
He returned about 10 minutes later looking for another.
Does he think peanuts grow on trees? I moved the peanut I had put in the small tree
to the larger but he hadn’t found it by the time I left at 10:15.
I received an email with a Niles Public Library card which I can use to access ebooks.
I checked The Weather Channel and it predicted showers for
the entire afternoon.
We left the apt at noon and took a Didi to Comfama in
Itagui. From there we walked a block to the same new mall we visited before but
this time there was a long line to enter the clinic. I think this trip was
about getting the injection for her stomach. Teresa talked to someone and we
left. We stopped at a couple pharmacies and asked about a medicine she needs
for her stomach. We couldn’t find it so we took a taxi to La Bahia where
we had a simple healthy lunch for 35,000 pesos ($8). We went across the street
to the mall where Teresa told me she wanted to check out Ikea. I guided
her to the back entrance and we went up to their restaurant. I bought a coffee
for 2,900 pesos and got a machine-made latte. I did get a refill, not sure if
that’s allowed but I did it. We checked out a couple more pharmacies but they
didn’t have it; sounds like it’s been discontinued. We took a taxi back to the
apt.
The day turned out to be sunny with no rain.
I managed to sign in to the new platform of Next Level
Training.
I set my VPN to the United States and went to the Niles
Public Library Niles-Maine District
Library - Niles, IL and, “Niles-Maine cardholders can download or stream
books, movies, documentaries, music, and more from a computer or mobile device.
Watch video tutorials for easy-to-follow overviews of each service. Apps are
available for most services. Libby,
Hoopla, Tumble Book Library, and LOTE4Kids. 😊 LOTE stands for “Languages Other Than English
Online for Kids” so I’m going to skip that one.
They had device-specific instructions that included my
Kindle e-Reader and it only took 2 minutes to complete. When I finish my
current book I’ll give it a try. I see they also have an Ancestry Library.
Cool!
Next, I’m going to look at direct flights from Bogota to
Chicago although I have a mathematical aversion to flying from Bogota to
Chicago when we’ll be flying over Medellin to get there. The only nonstop I
found for my dates on Google Flights was a 6 hour, 15-minute 7am-1:15pm Avianca
flight for $1,099 for 2 round-trip.
According to last year’s blog notes, “I checked Google
Flights and it looks like Avianca has almost hourly flights to Bogota”.
Now I’m going to check to see which airlines have direct
flights from Bogota to Chicago.
Daniel now has manicure and pedicure service, 25mil for one,
45mil for both so I’m going to give it a try.
About 4pm Teresa told me Esmeralda is coming over and how
about we go for gelato? Great idea.
We left the apt at 6pm and met Esmeralda outside Antonio’s.
By then Teresa and I had already decided we’d go to Gloria’s instead for pizza.
A block away on Ave Poblado we quickly caught a taxi but when we arrived at
Antica Pizza, it was closed. I guess they were on holiday. We returned to
almost exactly where we started and had pizza in Piccolo’s right across
the street from Smartfit. We got the Executive size which feeds 2-3 and
we got half chicken and half mixed. We each had a Coke and the total came to
121,000 pesos. We left at 8pm and returned to the apt.
JUST FUNNY
Again there is ONE direct flight a day from Bogota to Chicago, and that Avianca route is fairly new as well. Flights from Bogota to Chicago do NOT fly over Medellin with a routing that takes then to an exit point from Colombia near Cartagena and therefore significantly to the east of Medellin.
