Monday, March 23, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, fell asleep quickly, got up once at 2:30, finally waking/getting up at 5:45.

The street is wet so we must have gotten some rain overnight.

Today is a holiday – Saint Joseph’s Day.

According to my Fitbit, I got in7,156 steps yesterday and last night I slept for 4 hours and 19 minutes.

I left the apt at 8:30 and found Smartfit not very busy. The Abdominal Crunch machine was out of order but I completed the other machines without any problem. I intended to do 21 minutes on the treadmill finishing at 6kph but got a pain in my right groin area at the 9 ½ minute mark so I decreased the speed to 5.5 kph and finished the 21 minutes.

I had a latte in Ganso y Castor for about 90 minutes before returning to the apt. We had a downpour at 3pm that lasted a few minutes.

I ordered a Fitbit Inspire 3 Elastic Nylon Loop Band, Breathable Replacement Strap from Fintie for $8.99 to be sent to my ship forwarder in Florida.

Annie James “eating” applesauce on her own:

I hung around the apt the rest of the day, watching TV and reading.

I finished Ken Follett’s The Hammer of Eden on my Kindle.

Sunday, March 22, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm (still raining), fell asleep quickly, got up once at 11:30, finally waking/getting up at 5:30 but Fitbit says I only slept 4 hours and 19 minutes.

I left the apt at 8:15 and walked to Sao Paulo Plaza. In Olivenza I ordered calentao with scrambled eggs and a latte. Glenn with Bianca arrived a few minutes later. His cardiologist gave him some new medicine. He asked me to see if Pricemart had a particular brand of cottage cheese.

He left at 10:30 and I left soon after. I stopped in Be Good and bought a container of kefir for 30,000 pesos before returning to the apt.

Teresa returned at 1pm with this dead bird she found in the porteria.

If we were in the States I would say this is a Cardinal but who knows what it’s called here.

We left at 2pm and took a Didi to El Correo for 12,400 pesos. Teresa had the chicken breast with a baked potato and a Coke and I had their ribs with BBQ sauce and fries and a Coke.

The total check was 227,150 pesos ($67) and I tipped our attentive waiter another 20,000 pesos. A man came by selling something and I gave him the last 2 ribs that I had kept to-go.

We left at 3:45 and took a Didi to Pricesmart for 10,100 pesos.

We were both upset they didn’t have our turkey breast, the main item we came for. Teresa found a pair of chair pads for 60mil, one as her work chair and the other for my desk. They didn’t have my Canadian maple syrup so I bought a large container of Mrs. Butterworth’s. At least they had the Johnsonville breakfast sausage so I’ll have some protein on gym mornings. The total came to 797,229 pesos ($216) and we returned to the apt by taxi for 16,000 pesos.

These are Teresa’s latest finished purses:

That Kefir is thick stuff; really difficult to get out of the container.

I watched the end of the St. John vs Kansas basketball game that preceded 60 Minutes, then some news, read some, and went to bed at 10pm.

Saturday, March 21, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, took a while to fall asleep, got up once during the night, again at 4:45, couldn’t fall back asleep so I got up at 5:30.

According to my new Fitbit I only slept 3 hours and 58 minutes. Not sure what it’s trying to tell me.

I returned to bed at 6:30 and slept until 7:30 when I was awakened by my alarm.

I walked to the mall and recycled a battery, bought a package of 2 small superglues in Home Center and took a seat in Urbania where I had a latte for about 90 minutes. I agreed to a draw with chesswiz98 and left about 11am. I stopped in Exito and bought a few things before returning to the apt by taxi.

Teresa called about 1pm and asked me to meet her for lunch in El Pastelito. I stopped in Eduardo Madrid and returned a couple plastic containers for them to reuse and continued on to the restaurant. MT was with her, using her cane for the first time.

There was a line so Teresa suggested we go to El Correo in Provenza. I ordered a Didi but after 10 minutes the line disappeared and Teresa asked me to cancel our ride, which I did. We took an outside table but we were partially in the sun so we moved inside. We had the typical menu of the day for a total of 60,000 pesos.

They returned to Casa de Cultura and I went down the block to F!ka where I had a latte and went over my chess notes. I’ve been to this café before, it’s obviously a repurposed house. Upstairs they have a few tables and others downstairs in what’s is obviously a garage, still with the rolling garage door. A group of 8-10 men and women were having some type of meeting and I took a seat nearby.

Teresa called at 4pm and asked me to meet them outside the cultural center. I did and she motioned me inside, they had music coming from somewhere that Teresa informed me was from the 1920s.

We walked to a busy Eduardo Madrid bakery and had to wait for a table. It only had two seats so I had to wait another 20 minutes or so for a chair for myself. I bought a 6-pak of poppy seed bagels as my last muffin will be tomorrow. It started raining and we waiting until almost 6pm for it to stop. Teresa fluffed down a taxi to take MT home and then us.

Teresa is going to meet someone at 11am tomorrow to finish her purses so I’m going to have breakfast with Glenn.

I watched some news then read some from my book.

A downpour started about 8:30 and was still raining when I went to bed at 10pm.

Friday, March 20, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, took a long time to fall asleep, got up once at 2:45, seemed like I couldn’t fall back asleep but maybe I just slept lightly, finally getting up at 5:30. ChatGPT reports this is normal as my body acclimates to the new magnesium and half Benadryl.

This morning Teresa is going to El Heuco with Najely (sp?) for more material to make purses and bracelets.

I left the apt at 8:30 and found Smartfit pretty busy. I had to change the order of my routine a couple times but finished the treadmill with a heartrate of 124bpm.

On my way to Ganso y Castor they had the northbound lane of Avenida Poblado closed and under construction with two-way traffic on the southbound side.

A worker confirmed this is for the Metro Plus but she had no idea what year buses will be running. 😉

I bought a banana from across the aisle and had a latte taking my time as I believe I’ll be having lunch on my own today.

I left at 11am, bought a bag of milk in Ara and returned to the apt.

Teresa called at noon and informed me I’ll be having lunch on my own. She suggested Asados Rogelio. Right!

I left the apt at 1:45, stopped at the Bancolombia kiosk and printed a few chess games and continued on to Biftek

where I took an inside table. On the other side of the room was a large table that had finished eating then started playing some type of card game.

I ordered their Biftek Burger, an order of fries and a Coke.

The burger was okay but as usual in Colombia a little messy to eat.

I moved to Los Porteños and had a latte and started to go through the chess games I just had printed.

I left at 5pm and returned to the apt.

Teresa made some noise about going out – first she wanted me to go to Chiclayo and bring back food for her, no thanks. As usual, nothing came of it and I just had an apple for supper.

I ordered a package of 8 bamboo purse handles from Amazon for Teresa’s purse making. I also added 3 small pill containers and of course Amazon had to split the order.

I got my Fitbit set up but at one point it displayed something in Spanish and ChatGPT suggested I reinstall the app but I think I’ll wait on that.

I watched some news then continued reading in my book.

Thursday, March 19, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once at 3:15, seemed like I couldn’t fall back asleep but maybe I just finally slept lightly, finally getting up at 6:30.

I discussed my sleep results with ChatGPT and it said the most important thing is how I feel later in the 10am-11am period, so we’ll see.

I met Marcos at Tostao at 9:30. He handed over the Fitbit Inspire 3 I had purchased from Amazon and had sent to his address in Arizona. I gave him 50 Euros to pay for the two nut bars he’s going to buy for Teresa while they are in Madrid next month.

I have another 90 Euros he might want to exchange for pesos.

We adjourned by 10:15 and I went to Otra Parte for coffee. It took a few minutes but I finally figured out they don’t open until noon. 😊

I left at 11:15 and stopped in Ara and bought chicken breasts but they didn’t have the Alpina butter she requested.

For lunch we made cheese broccoli soup again. This time it came out much better. She thinks she forgot to add the flour last time.

After lunch I tried taking a nap but couldn’t sleep because of the jackhammers across the street.

Teresa gave me detailed instructions for 2 rolls of tape she wanted me to purchase at one of three stores 2 blocks from Parque Envigado.

I left the apt at 2pm and followed google maps directions to VitaminFit at Carrera 41 #35sur-28, around the corner from Comfama.

I found Nutricost Magnesium Glycinate for 127,000 pesos.

More details: 250 grams per container, 210 mg/serving, 135 servings. Unflavored, powder.

I told them I’ll have to talk to my brother to see if it’s the correct product for me.

I continued 2 blocks east of Parque Envigado and entered what looked like the correct store for Teresa’s tape. I showed them samples of the colors Teresa wanted and understood they had a roll of one but not the other. I put Teresa on the phone to talk to the sales woman but in the end she decided to forgo any purchase.

I walked a few blocks to a bakery I had frequented before and had a latte and a glass of ice water. I sent ChatGPT the details for the magnesium product I found and was told that’s exactly what I need.

I returned to the store and bought the container for 127,000 pesos cash. I asked for a receipt so I would have a copy of their address but they didn’t have one. Neither did they have a business card so I added their information to my Addresses to Remember on my cellphone. The rep gifted me this candy bar:

I returned to the apt and was tired from my long walk.

I started setting up my Fitbit Inspire 3: charging the battery, pairing it with my cellphone, and entering some of my personal information.

It looks like a good movie has finally come to Viva Envigado, rated 8.5

At 7pm a downpour started but after half an hour it tapered off to just raindrops.

For supper I ate one of the two ears of corn I purchased in Ara the other day. Not bad, but not what I’d call sweet corn.

I found this video on Instagram of Jeannie with Annie playing to the music of The Shoop Shoop Song. https://www.instagram.com/stories/jeannie.and/3856670524894368576?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igsh=bzR0ajdkOWt4cmMy

I watched some news and read from my Kindle.

At 8pm I took ½ a scoop of magnesium glycinate with a glass of water.

At 10pm I took ½ a Benadryl and a Zopiclona and went to bed.

Wednesday, March 18, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once during the night, finally waking/getting up at 6:30.

After breakfast, since I had to wait an hour before going to the gym I went for a 40-minute nap but I think I only slept for the last few minutes of it.

I left the apt about 8:45 and it looks like the back sidewalk is done although work is still ongoing on the new curb.

Smartfit was a little busy so I had to alter the order of my routine. My favorite treadmill was taken so I took the third one from the far end. I quickly discovered the heart rate meter didn’t work so I moved to the fourth one. After two minutes on that one I gave up on the heart rate meter working and I moved to the next one. Finally, that one worked and I completed my 10 minutes.

On my way to Ganso y Castor I encountered this water spout.

looks like someone was digging and hit a water line. At least it looked like clean water.

I had a latte in Ganso y Castor for an hour before returning to the apt.

Now work is being done on the sidewalk on the other side of the street so we’re dealing with jackhammer noise again.

I left the apt at 2pm and stopped at the Bancolombia kiosk to print yesterday’s chess games’ analysis. I continued on to Los Porteños where I ate one of my bags of peanuts with a Coke. (Why does that sound like I ate the bags, not the peanuts?) I went over the games, making notes of a couple places where I could have made stronger moves.

I asked ChatGPT where I could find magnesium glycinate or bisglycinate in Envigado. The first recommendation sounded like it was a small store across the street from Viva Envigado but when I googled the location it was (at least now) a bakery. The second closest place was a small store called Be Good – Mercado Saludable

next to a Body Tech gym behind Clap Burger. I left at 5:45 and walked over there but they didn’t have the type of magnesium I’m looking for.

I returned to La Buena Mesa and took a table in Eduardo Madrid to wait for Teresa, expecting her by 6:30. After more discussion with ChatGPT, it gave me two more locations near Parque Envigado I might check out tomorrow afternoon. Teresa arrived at 6:45, didn’t want anything to eat (they close at 7pm anyway) so we left and stopped at Ara for some groceries before returning to the apt.

I watched some news then read my latest book before going to bed at 10pm.

Tonight, after a few weeks of moving the time I take my Magnesium from 4 hours before bed to 1 ½ - 2 hours before bed, I started reducing my Benadryl to a half dose. We’ll see how sleep goes tonight and how I feel tomorrow.

Tuesday, March 17, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once during the night, finally waking/getting up at 5:45.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

By the time I used the restroom and finished my Kegel exercises, Teresa had already left for her early gym class.

For some reason google wouldn’t allow me to enter Blogger so I could post my blog. I’ll try again later.

I took a Didi in heavy traffic to Unicentro for 19,600 pesos, arriving 10 minutes late. The fruit vendor was there so I bought a banana and finished it by the time I entered the mall.

I found Jose waiting for me at our usual table and I handed over the book that contained his new debit card. He thanked me by paying for my breakfast.

We moved to the food court and I had the Black pieces in the first game. As usual he got an attack going but I held on for a draw. It was a 3-hour, 75 move game that ended in a draw.

I had the White pieces in the second game and he again got an attack going but I held on and eventually won in a more reasonable 64 moves.

It was now 2:15 as I ordered a Didi to return me to Envigado for 19,900 pesos. Traffic was heavy but at least it was moving as I arrived at Vivi Envigado.

I went up to the third floor and had lunch at Sarku’s again.

I stopped in the banking area and withdrew 2 million pesos in mixed bills.

It was almost 4pm so I went down to Exito and paid the utility bill of 379,000 pesos, after waiting in line for 25 minutes.

I returned to the apt by taxi.

I had to use a different browser (I chose Chrome) to enter my blog today.

I’ve discovered my TV headphones work fine as long as I recharge them from an electric socket instead of my laptop’s USB port.

I watched some news then read my latest book before going to bed at 10pm.

Monday, March 16, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 9pm, got up once during the night, finally waking/getting up at 5:15.

Happy ½ (6th month) birthday to Annie James.

Teresa got up at 7am and made breakfast. After, I took a nap for an hour and was awakened by my alarm. I left the apt about 8:30 and found a busy Smartfit. I usually start with two exercises on the Butterfly machine but both were in use and two girls were waiting to use it. I skipped it and came back later. I completed 20 minutes on the treadmill with a final heart rate of 130bpm.

I forgot to bring a peanut and the house keys but I’m sure Teresa wouldn’t be leaving the apt.

I had a latte in Ganso y Castor for about an hour, stopped in Ara and bought a package of chicken breasts and lettuce on my way back to the apt.

As I entered the porteria the portero handed me a package. It had Jose’s return address on it so I suspected it was just his book (with his new debit card inside). With Jose’s permission I opened it and it contained his book, my 3 envelopes, and our Christmas presents which consisted of a t-shirt with Girl Grandpa on the front and a picture frame.

I recharged the TV headphones using a different USB port but they still only worked for 3 minutes before the battery died.

We left the apt at 1:30 and MT met us at our porteria in a taxi. We continued on to San Fernando Plaza for 20,000 pesos and went up to Gaes where MT got her hearing aids. I made the second and last payment of 7,299,450 pesos ($1,973) which she will repay by next November. MT went to use their restroom while Teresa and I waited outside. When MT came. out she thanked me and gave me a big hug.

We took a taxi to SantaFe mall and went down to Valentinas café. Teresa was going to show the purse under construction to the girl who ordered it but she wasn’t working today.

I won a game against Troyclough, increasing my rating to 1525.

MT and I had lattes and Teresa had a granizado coffee and they shared a slice of yogurt cake and I had a slice of carrot cake. The total check came to 91,778 pesos and we left at 6:30 and returned to Envigado by taxi for 20,000 pesos.

Today I charged the headphones with a separate charger instead of the USB port on my computer and they were still working when I went to bed 2 ½ hours later. 😊

Sunday, March 15, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once at 3:15, took a long time to fall back asleep (5:15?), and was awakened by my alarm at 7:30.

We left the apt at 11:30 and took a Didi to Exposiciones station where we found an El Retiro bus waiting for us. It was nearly full but we found seats together near the back.

We arrived in El Retiro by 12:45 and walked up to Lomo Fino where we had a nice lunch for s132,000 pesos ($36). Teresa had the chicken with vegetable soup and a guanabana juice and I had the solomito with a Coke. My steak today was a little chewy, at least more so than usual.

We found seats in the park as a band was warming up to play. We only stayed about 15 minutes then Teresa checked out a few shops down the street.

We found a table in Café El Retiro and Teresa had a Granizado (café malt) while I had a latte and we shared a slice of apple cake with walnuts. She worked on her purse project and I spent a little time in my endgame book. I won a game vs Chesswiz98, increasing my rating to 1519.

I just noticed the game I lost to Saul19780 where I lost 6 points, he gained 16. Probably because he’s a new player and that’s a provisional rating. His rating now is 1723 and he has yet to lose (or draw) at this 3-day speed. He’s also playing at a high accuracy, none of his 5 games below 85.5%. Right now, I’m up a pawn in a complicated middlegame.

We left at 4:45 and walked down to the bus station where we were soon on a bus back to Medellin.

Back at Exposiciones station we took a taxi back to the apt for 20,300 pesos.

I tried my headphones again but this time the battery only lasted about 10 minutes.

No tripping today so that’s an improvement.

I finished reading Ken Follett’s The Third Twin on my Kindle and went to bed at 9am.

Saturday, March 14, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up twice during the night, woke up at 5:15 and got up at 6:15.

Happy Pi Day!

I left the apt at 9am and walked to the mall. Exito Wow wasn’t open and a guard confirmed they’re only open Monday thru Friday, so I couldn’t pay the epm bill.

The nearest ATM didn’t work

so I went up to the banking area and used an ATM outside Bancolombia to deposit 100mil into Teresa’s account for Netflix.

Downstairs I had a latte in Urbania for a little over an hour. Innovation Corp texted they received my payment and will send our package to Envigado. 😊

I agreed to a draw with Troyclough, lowering my rating to 1513.

I left at 11am, bought a large container of eggs in Exito and returned to the apt by taxi.

Lately, I’ve notice Teresa asks me questions as I step out of the shower. I’m beginning so suspect she wants to see me naked. 😊

We left the apt at noon and took a Didi to El Tesoro mall for 15,300 pesos.

We got in a short line for Crepes & Waffles. I spotted 3 tables that had already been served which were most likely to open up first. The one inside soon became available and we sat down and placed our order.

I explained to Teresa Pi day and Saint Patrick’s Day and how Chicago dies their river green.

Then Teresa decided she wanted to move upstairs. (I don’t care what table a woman chooses, I just don’t like moving once I’ve gotten settled.)

We moved upstairs near a crying baby. (Of course, the parents would want to be furthest from the crowd.) Lunch was only 76,350 pesos and I paid in cash.

Teresa checked out clothes in Zara and a couple more stores.

She went in to H&M to exchange a blouse but didn’t find anything so she took cash and handed me 239,000 pesos because I had paid for it with my debit card.

We stopped in Medipiel and Teresa bought a couple things for 312,630 pesos ($ and received a lot of free samples.

We had drinks in Valentina’s and shared a slice of yogurt cake. They have these cute ice cream parlor chairs

similar to my chess table chairs so I had Teresa ask where they got them. The waitress gave me two names, Calmahome (google found 1 location) and 3House (google found 3 locations). The seat of one of my chairs is already broken (probably dried out and after 10 years of sitting on it) and I’m using the other with the computer desk.

I decided it would be best if I took a photo of one of the chairs.

Now let me set the scene for you. Like a lot of tables in Medellin, they have hooks underneath where you can hang a bag. I had taken off my cap and hooked it to the carabiner on my tech bag then I shortened its strap so it wouldn’t hit the floor and put it on the hook.

I got up to take a photo of the chair and I either stepped on or otherwise got my food tangled in my bag. I didn’t fall or drop my phone but it did look awkward. I took my photos and returned to my chair. (Two near falls in two days.)

The total for two coffees and a slice of yogurt cake was 76,300 pesos and I paid in cash.

We left at 5pm and stopped in Dollar City so Teresa could purchase a few things. I have to remember the store is located one level below the Carulla grocery store.

I ordered a Didi to return us to Envigado for 15,200 pesos.

I tried the TV headphones again but they lasted only about 30 minutes until the battery failed.

Just before 8pm we heard mariachis; we could hear them but we couldn’t see them.

I noticed a Social Security $0.00 pre-credit notification deposit made to my account, probably a precursor to next month’s deposit.

The plan for tomorrow is for another day trip to El Tesoro – if it’s not raining.

I watched a little news and read some from my Kindle before going to bed at 10pm.

Friday, March 13, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up twice during the night, woke up at 5:30 and got up at 6am.

Teresa was already gone to her gym class and I started working on my blog post.

I don’t know why but the past few days my mouse has lost its Bluetooth connection to my laptop.
Teresa returned and informed me she cancelled MT’s appointment today for her hearing aids. Probably next Monday afternoon.

After breakfast I returned to bed for a 45-minute nap.

I left the apt at 9am and this is the condition of the back sidewalk.

I found Smartfit not very busy. 😊 I completed my workout in my preferred order including 20 minutes on the treadmill. One mishap: I was on the treadmill when an ad for Zonafit came on and I tried to take a photo of it while still walking on the treadmill. I slipped but didn’t fall or drop my cellphone but it was noticeable enough that one of the young female instructors came over and showed that I should reduce the speed first before distractions like that. In the future I’ll jump to the side rails before taking the photo. After I finished on the treadmill, I finally caught a photo of the QR code for Zonafit:

I moved to Ganso y Castor where I had a latte for about an hour. I received a text message that our package has arrived in Medellin and the fee is 107,000 pesos.

I’ll try to pay for that this afternoon.

Teresa texted and asked me to pick up milk on the way back to the apt; we’re making broccoli cheddar soup again.

Somehow, we messed up the soup recipe. The cheese came out clumped and separated from the liquid (milk). Did we do something different this time? We used sharp cheddar cheese, 2% milk, and unsalted butter. My brother suggested we didn’t grate the cheese which is true.

I left the apt at 2pm and stopped at the Bancolombia kiosk to pay the Innovation Corp shipping fee but I guess that system wasn’t working. I stopped next door at the small market and bought a lighter for Teresa. No, she doesn’t smoke, she uses it when she’s making bracelets and purses. I continued on to Los Porteños where I had a latte for a couple hours while continuing studying my endgame book. I left at 4pm and stopped at the kiosk and this time she processed my payment. I quickly sent a copy of the receipt to Innovation Corp but I got no response so I was probably too late for this week.

I left at 5pm and returned to the apt.

ChatGPT helped me fix the Bluetooth problem; I think. We’ll see how the next few days go.

Chesswiz98 resigned our game, increasing my rating to 1515.

I watched the news and read some from my book before going to bed at 10pm.

After breakfast I had a 30-minute nap then walked to Viva Envigado. I had a latte in Urbania for a couple hours while studying my endgame book.

Luckily, Laura’s family hadn’t yet rented a car for me. This graph shows the recent change in oil prices:

I left at 11:15 and bought some produce in Exito’s before returning to the apt by taxi.

Teresa’s latest purse that she made:

After lunch Teresa informed me that she was going to meet her friend (Nardelly?) in Viva Envigado and she’ll call me and we’ll meet in Crepes & Waffles for ice cream.

I left the apt at 2pm and walked to Gardenia Café where I had a latte while continuing my endgame studies. Teresa called at 2:30 with a change in plans. They are going to meet me here at Gardenia because it will be more conducive to carrying on a conversation. They arrived about 3:30 and Teresa showed her all her bracelets and a few purses. Nardelly ended up buy 8 wide bracelets, 1 narrow bracelet and 2 purses for 850,000 pesos ($230) for US Christmas presents and a nice sale for Teresa.

About 5pm we walked down the block and across the street to Picositas where we had an empanada and coffee (limonada de coco for me). They chatted some more and we left about 6pm and returned to our apt. They then left to stop at Bancolombia kiosk before heading on to see Wilson.

I watched the news, The Chris Hayes Show, then read some before going to bed at 10pm.

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up at 12:30, woke up at 5:15 and got up at 5:45am.

The street is wet so we must have had more rain overnight.

Teresa didn’t make it to her early morning gym class, finally getting up at 6:30.

I tried taking a nap after breakfast but gave up after about 45 minutes.

The plan today is to meet at Olivia’s in Mayorca for lunch.

I left the apt at 8:30 and this is the condition of the back sidewalk:

I found Smartfit not so busy this morning. I completed my routine including 20 minutes on the treadmill.

I had a latte in Ganso y Castor for a little over an hour.

I wanted to print something at the Bancolombia kiosk but was surprised it wasn’t open. Maybe the worker was just taking a potty break.

I left the apt at noon and took an Uber to Mayorca mall. Today I took Uber because I wanted to make sure my app works as I might need it while in the US in May. It’s been a while since I used it so they gave me a nice discount and my trip only cost 2,686 pesos.

I went down a level to the parking garage and printed the computer analysis of my games vs Jose.

I met Teresa up on the 4th floor and we took a table in Olivia. She ordered a special called Milanesa Clasica with a mixed juice and I ordered the ground beef lasagna and a mango juice. The total check, with tip, came to 123,026 pesos ($33).

Teresa informed me MT’s hearing aids have arrived and we have an appointment for Friday at 11am. I told her that I think our Christmas presents have arrived in Florida.

We took a taxi back to Envigado for 18,000 pesos and Teresa got out just down the hill from the culture center and I continued up to Calle 30A. from there it was just a block to Los Porteños where I had a latte for a couple hours while going through our games. We played pretty evenly but as usual we both missed a couple good moves.

I won a game vs Troyclough, increasing my rating to 1509.

I left at 5pm and took a table inside Eduardo Madrid bakery. Teresa arrived at 5:40 and we decided not to eat or drink anything there. We stopped in Tienda D1 on the way back to the apt where she bought cotton cleanser pads and I bought 3 soon to be ripe bananas.

I checked the Boston to/from Chicago flights that I’ve already purchased for $335.01 and now its $765 and that is yet to include some extra charges so I’ll be waiting a bit to order our flights to Boston.

The wound on my right shin has completely healed and I seem to be over the skin condition that’s plagued me for the past few years.

I watched The Chris Hayes Show then read a bit before going to bed at 10pm.

Tuesday, March 10, 2026

Last night I went to bed at 10pm, don’t recall making a trip to the bathroom, waking/getting up at 5:45am.

Teresa had already left for her gym class.

I ate my last ripe banana.

I checked the FL warehouse and saw that a package arrived with tracking number 9505517071166057111046. (Later Jose confirmed that was his book with a debit card inside.) I sent a text message asking to release everything in my locker.

At 7:15 I started ordering a Didi and traffic was good and I arrived at Unicentro mall almost 20 minutes early for 18,700 pesos. The fruit stand was there and I purchased another ripe banana for 1,000 pesos. I quickly ate it then walked twice around the mall and still had a five-minute wait for the 8am opening. I went up to Shake and Shack and it’s a gym café with lots of things to eat/drink before/after your workout. (A Smartfit is right across the hall. They have waffles!)

I met Jose in Parmessano and we had our usual breakfast. Today I remembered to bring maple syrup but the French toast is so thick it’s a stretch to say it’s toasted. I also had 2 scrambled eggs and a latte for 55,000 pesos.

Innovation Corp sent me a photo of the contents of my locker and we tried to decode it:

These are US government mandated letters that have to be sent by my pension companies:

This says it’s from “Tribe Lacrosse”. This happened once before, an Indian tribe sent me some small gift asking for a donation.

Jose confirmed that zip code 82823 is from his son’s town in Utah so it must be the book with his debit card inside.

This package is from zip code 60035 which I googled and is Highland Park so it must be our Christmas presents have finally arrived. (Jeannie mailed them out on December 1st.)

We adjourned to the food court and I had the Black pieces in the first game. Even though he had the advantage most of the game I managed to hold on for a draw.

I had the White pieces in the second game and it was even until I trapped his queen for a rook on the 30th move but he kept fighting and finally resigned on move 56.

It was now 1:30 and I said goodbye and ordered my Didi to take me to Viva Envigado for 20,700 pesos.

Sarku’s wasn’t very busy and I found a table that wasn’t directly under their ceiling fans (which dries out my eyes). I ordered their chicken teriyaki with rice and a Pepsi for 37,700 pesos.

I stopped in Claro to pay our cellphone bills and my bill was ready but Teresa’s only had 4,000 pesos on it.

I stopped at an ATM and withdrew 2,000,000 pesos.

Downstairs I had a latte in Urbania. Teresa texted me several times to inform me it was raining, then it wasn’t. I stopped in Exito and picked up a few things and got in a modestly long line but there were only two cashiers.

Outside I got in line for a taxi and there were still a few raindrops.

The power went out in our apt several times over the next couple hours but only for a couple minutes.

I watched the news, The Chris Hayes Show, read a little and went to bed at my regular 10pm.
