I got up once during the night and I woke up at 6am with
Teresa coughing a lot and sniffling a little.
Obviously she has a cold and I don’t think that’s good if one is having
surgery.
I texted Chuck asking him if he wanted to meet for lunch.
I watched the first 90 minutes of the Today show.
Teresa left the apt at 12:15 to take her mother to a
doctor’s appointment.
I finally remembered that Chuck had a friend come in
yesterday so he’s probably doing touristy stuff with him.
I left the apt at 1:15.
Outside Bartolos there was one
table available but no chairs.
I walked to the Gold barber
shop on our old street but both chairs were occupied and a couple people were
waiting.
I went to La Casita
Parilla where I had their ribs and a mango juice. Delicious!
Back at the barber shop no one was waiting so I took a seat
and soon it was my turn. Felipe, my barber,
spoke good English. He said he studied
at Colombiano Americano and likes the
Chicago Bulls. I understood his main
interest in American sports came from playing sports on Playstation.
After my 17mil haircut I went to the bakery. On the way it was obvious we got a little
rain while I was in the barber shop.
I had a café con leche for 1,800 pesos.
I went to the nature store where I bought a bottle of
L-Arginine for 25,400 pesos. I asked if
they had Pycnogenol and she said “no”. I
asked if she could order it and she said Colombia has no history of it. I understood she meant they haven’t had a
demand for it here.
I walked back to the apt under threatening dark clouds. There was barely a fine mist in the air. I stopped at Exito where I bought 2 bags of milk.
At 4:30 I heard one loud peal of thunder but still no rain.
I left the apt at 5pm and at the mall I went into Home
Center looking for another 3-way tap. I
was on the down escalator when I saw Chuck and his friend going up. I hadn’t gotten very far so I turned around
and ran up the down escalator. I met his
friend Mark who is from Boston. I got
his phone number so if Laura has any problem she can call him. I understand he will be here for 3 weeks and
he plays chess. Hmmm!
We chatted a bit, I paid for my 3-way tap with their auto
payment machine and headed out.
I stopped in Cine Colombia where I asked an English speaking
manager how to use the QR Code (I think that’s what it’s called) on my
cellphone. She said to just show it to
the usher as I enter the theater.
I stopped in Dollar
City where I found Betty Crocker aluminum foil, 0.5 watt nite lights, and a
banana muffin mix.
Twenty minutes before showtime I got in a short line and
bought a small popcorn and medium soda for 13,200. With full hands I showed my cellphone to the
usher. She asked if anyone was with me
and I said “I’m sad but I’m alone tonight”.
She scanned the code with what looked like her cellphone and I went in.
Bohemian
Rhapsody (8.4) was excellent.
I loved the music and I think Rami Malek should get an academy award
nomination for his performance.
I received an email from Inter-Col
that my passport with visa is waiting for pickup. I will have to pay 190mil for my new Cedula
preferably with a credit/debit card. I
guess I’ll have to wait until Friday when I have some of my pension deposits. Or Saturday if we’re too busy on Friday.
And, the Norwegian Magnus Carlson defeated the American
Fabiano Caruana in the world chess championship. Bummer!
Joke of the day
A Polish
immigrant went to the Department of Motor Vehicles to apply for a driver's
license. First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test. The optician
showed him a card with the letters
'C
Z W I X N O S T A C Z.'
'Can
you read this?' the optician asked.
'Read
it?' the Polish man replied, 'I know the guy.'
