Last night I went to bed at 10pm, slept through the night, finally waking/getting up at 5:30am.
Happy International Women’s Day!
I googled, “how far in advance should someone book a rental
car?” and the response was, “For the best availability and potentially lower
prices, it’s recommended to book your rental car at least 4 to 6 weeks in
advance. If traveling during a busy time like …summer, booking even further in
advance (e.g., 2-3 months) might be necessary to guarantee availability.” In
order to remember the date in the future, I think I’ll do it on St. Patrick’s
Day.
I left the apt at 8:40 and took an Uber to Daniel’s
barbershop (Didi seemed to have a problem finding his address). I got my usual
haircut with a manicure and pedicure for 100mil. The girl didn’t cut me
exactly, but she did poke me. It also takes too much time so I don’t think I’ll
continue with it on a monthly basis. I walked across the street and a block
away I was in front of a church, Parroquia San Mateo. I think next time I’ll
have Didi drop me off at the church. I took a Didi to Todo Drogas where
I bought my medications for the month, adding a new one, 2000 IU of vitamin D.
I walked to Ganso y Castor and found it full, with no outside tables
available so I took a seat at one of the concrete tables.
Teresa called me at noon and informed me the beauty shop is
too busy so she can’t get her hair done today so she asked me to take her to Mama
Panda for lunch today.
I returned to the apt.
We left at 1:45 and took a Didi to Mama Panda in Laureles.
Five minutes before we arrived at the restaurant my brother
texted me and I learned I posted something that someone wasn’t supposed to see.
☹
I was hoping the restaurant wouldn’t be full with Colombians
celebrating the day, but sadly for the owner we were almost the only ones
there.
Like last time, Teresa chose a table next to the open window.
Like usual she ordered without looking at a menu, shrimp fried rice. I ordered
egg drop soup and beef with broccoli. Teresa liked the look of my soup when the
brought it, tasted it and ordered her own. By the time they brought her soup
her main dish arrived a minute later, in typical Colombian fashion. Shortly
after I finished my soup, my main dish arrived. The beef was tender enough and
the sauce was good with the white rice. Teresa had a Coke Zero and I an
original Coke and later Teresa had a bottle of water with lemon.
Esmeralda called and Teresa relayed that Unicentro mall will
be having live music at 6pm.
The check came to about 170,000 pesos ($41).
We took a Didi to Unicentro mall and I led Teresa upstairs
to Coffee Shop. It turns out they’ve been open longer than I thought, Jose and I
probably miss it as we are usually moving to the food court just minutes before
they open at 9am. We didn’t think much of their coffee and we shared a slice of
carrot cake.
Downstairs, Esmeralda had saved us seats in the 5th row. The Colombian music was loud enough to be heard on the other side of the mall so I put in my emergency ear plugs. They have to be positioned just so or they don’t really lessen the loudness. I could still hear the band with no problem so I guess they want you to feel it not just hear it.
They started at 5:45 and finished at 7:15 and we returned to
the apt by Didi.
I deleted the offending passage in yesterday’s blog post.
I then started my pre-sleep process.
FUNNY
