Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once during the night, finally waking/getting up at 5am.
Teresa informed me the mass is at 3pm.
I left the apt at 8:30 for Smartfit. I completed my
usual workout increasing the treadmill from 12minutes to 13. (I fear all the
walking in Chicago (museums, botanical garden, etc.) will wear me out so much
that the following day I won’t be able to move.) I’m going to increase the time
and try to walk a bit more increasing the distance over time.
I had a latte in Ganso y Castor for about an hour.
I blundered and lost a game vs Troyclough lowering my rating
to 1535. I’m starting a game vs Maryanndelavega, rated only 385, which sounds Latina,
but she’s in the Philippines. (I guess Latinas can be in the Philippines.)
When I returned to the apt Teresa was just leaving to get
her hair done. (She complained one woman charges 50mil ($10) but another only
charges 25mil ($5). 😊
If she finishes in time we’ll meet for lunch, most likely in
La Casita Parilla.
ChessMood courses are still available (to me) for free.
Teresa called at 1:09, said she was already in La Casita
Parilla and asked me what I want to order. (If we are in such a hurry, why
didn’t she call me from the peluqueria (beauty shop)? I arrived by 1:30 and she
was already eating and my chicken breast soon arrived. Diego asked how my
brother is doing.
We left at 2:10 and returned to the apt by Didi.
We left by Didi at 3:07 and on the expressway they have
these digital signs and this one said this year 29 motorcyclists and 5
pedestrians have died. (No wonder they way they drive.) We passed a bakery that
I used to frequent called Los Mejores. (For those of you who haven’t
been with me from the beginning I lived my first 18 months in an apartment in
Laureles.) We arrived at Parroquia Divino Maestro (Calle 38 #89A-24) at
3:45 and mass was already in progress. (If it was 45 minutes long like past
masses it should be over soon.) This church was smaller but filled to overflowing
and we stood outside one of their side doors. There were a few raindrops but we
managed to move under cover and it never got worse. The mass ended at 4:30 so maybe
we arrived at the beginning. They wheeled the coffin out and into a hearse
which soon left. Family and friends gathered around outside the entrance. I saw
Albero, Juan, Laura, Daniela and I recognized the mother of the deceased. She
was sitting on a railing but soon fainted and they moved her to a regular chair
and put her feet up on another. She looks old and not very healthy.
We left at 5:10 and returned to the apt in heavy traffic by a
very aggressive Didi driver.
Teresa surprised me asking to have burgers in McDonald’s.
We changed clothes and headed down the hill. She had the McNificance or
whatever it’s called and I had a double cheeseburger. Both came with fries and
a drink. Teresa rationalized it’s ok to eat burgers once in a while just not to
make it a daily habit.
One of my blog readers asked about “pasito pues”. I understand
“pues” means “well” and I see “pasito” translates to “small step” so… I have no
idea.
Back at the apt I started my pre sleep routine and was in
bed by 10pm. (Teresa conked out at 9pm.)
