I slept well last night only getting up twice during the
night. I finally woke up at 6am and got
up at 7am.
Laura was already gone as she had an appointment for an early
morning tour of the university.
Among new US movie releases I might want to see A Ghost Story (7.4). Locally, I would like to see The Circle (5.3) playing at 1pm and 4pm
in El Tesoro and at 11:50am and 2:40pm at Oviedo.
I watched the first 20 minutes of the Today show and then left for the gym picking up a free adn newspaper along the way. I completed all the machines I wanted, using
my new gloves, in an hour and 55 minutes, including 5 minutes at speed 4 on the
treadmill.
On the way back to the gym the guy I usually buy my Friday
newspaper from didn’t have his stand set up.
I even backtracked a couple blocks where I’d seen a man selling papers
on a street corner but he wasn’t there either.
What? Is there a printer’s
strike?
For the last few months workers have been doing construction
on a new building half a block from the park.
Today I could see it’s finished and the bright flashing lights inside informed
me that this is - just what we need – another casino. Upon further reflection I deduced that it’s
the same casino that’s on the other side of the block, they just enlarged it
and now it has a 2nd entrance.
Crossing a side street I saw a key ring with 3 keys attached
but I didn’t pick them up because I have no idea what I would do with them.
Back at the apt I scanned quickly through the newspaper and
they had an article about the 40th anniversary of CES – Laura’s new
school. Btw, Tuesday-Thursday her first
class is at 8am and on Mondays it’s at 6am. Yikes!
But she’s done each day at noon.
Late in the afternoon Teresa asked me for a glass of
tea. I may have won over a convert.
I finished editing/copy writing Alex’s new book.
I had my Chess
Magnet School account
reset so I can start it over again.
Teresa and I left the apt at 6:30, joined up with MT outside
her apartment and walked to Exito. Teresa picked up some things for making
sandwiches. I checked out the foreign
product aisle but didn’t see anything I wanted. I went to the produce area and saw signs that
said lemon but they all looked like limes to me. We walked over to Home Center and on the way I saw the large full moon. We picked up a Würden Panini grill that we
paid for with the credit from Teresa returning the rice cooker plus another
82,000 pesos. We quickly caught a taxi,
dropped MT near her apartment and continued up to ours for the minimum fare of
5mil. We were back by 8pm.
Teresa made us each a grilled ham sandwich for dinner.
T-shirt of the day: I’m not always rude &
sarcastic. Sometimes I’m asleep.
Hola Terry,
ReplyDeleteIn spanish the word 'limón' is used to mean both lemons and limes.
I learned in Costa Rica by asking a barman what the name of the green lime wedge (the sort we gringos are used to) on the lip of my drink's glass was. He said they call that 'limón de Mesina'. (The 'limón de Mesina' tastes like those green Persian limes we are familiar with here in the US.) I had no problem asking for limes in CR after that.
If you want a yellow lemon I am thinking that you will prolly have to ask for a 'limón amarillo'.
BTW, the word 'lima' in spanish means file, like a nail file (lima para uñas).
OK — HTH
