Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once at 11:30, again at 2:15, took a while to fall back asleep, finally waking/getting up at 6am.
According to my Fitbit, I got in 7,507 steps yesterday and
last night I slept for 5 hours.
Today is a holiday here – May Day, like Labor Day in the US.
Teresa told me the gym will be closed but I’ve never found it closed but they
may not have her gym classes.
After breakfast I fell asleep on the recliner and slept for
about 40 minutes.
As I left the apt at 8:30, Teresa asked me to check if there
are classes today and, on my way back, see if Asados Rogelio will be
open today.
I left the apt at 8:30 and found Smartfit busier than
usual. My usual first machine, the Butterfly, both were occupied by two guys
who kept taking turns. I skipped it and was able to complete the rest of my
routine in order up to the treadmill. At ChatGPT’s suggestion I did 18 minutes
at 5 ½ kph – the goal now is mainly to strengthen my lower legs. While on the
treadmill I noticed the Butterfly occasionally became available. After the
treadmill at a heartrate of 116 bpm I was able to slip in the Butterfly among
my last 3 exercises. I finally remembered to asked about gym classes and as
expected they don’t have any because of the holiday.
I had a latte in Ganso y Castor for about 90 minutes and
on the way back to the apt confirmed that Asados Rogelio will be open
today.
I called Fintie +1 (888) 249-8201 about the missing
spring pins for my new Fitbit band and they’re going to send out replacements.
Annie James shopping with Dad:
Instead of Asados Rogelio, Teresa wanted to try what
she called Salpicon but I corrected her to Salpi Jugos. We had their
menu of the day which was okay, nothing special, for 61,185 pesos. After, she
wanted me to go to Fika for coffee while she visited her friend who
completed another purse for her. On the way there she steered me to a small
corner bakery (other side of the park from Aymara) where she ordered a
guayabana for us to share and glasses of milk. She liked it so much she ordered
a second. I only had the first half and she got the last half to go.
Close to the cultural center we separated and I went to Fika
which I found closed. I texted that news to Teresa and took a seat on their
stairs. She soon joined me and we walked to Eduardo Madrid which of
course was closed also.
I was hot and tired and wishing I’d worn my usual sleeveless
t-shirt instead of a regular t-shirt.
I led her to Los PorteƱos where I had a Coke with ice
and she had a glass of ice water.
I looked at flights using Google Flights and it looks like
it will cost about $1000 for the two of us before adding baggage/seat upgrades
and taxes/fees. I looked at apartments on Airbnb and found one in Glenview.
From the photo of the building and the approximate location they provided I
think I know exactly where that Airbnb is. Besides the building looking crappy
from the outside, the apt is on the 3rd floor and there’s no
elevator.
Back at the apt I wanted to send a message to the Airbnb
host but had trouble logging on to Airbnb. Apparently, I used gmail as my
contact email and my gmail account is full. I deleted all the messages there
but I guess it will take a little while for Google to recognize that.
I started watching a series called The Man in the High
Castle (7.9) on Netflix.
I watched the first half of The Chris Hayes Show and
then it was time to start reading.
