Self-isolation Day 78.

Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, got up 2-3 times during the night, finally waking/getting up at 7:30.

It’s still raining so I hope it stops before 9am so I can go out for my 30-minute walk.

Teresa had a 10am beauty parlor appointment that she cancelled because of the rain.

President Trump said yesterday the Republican National Convention won't be happening in North Carolina after all. (Yes, by all means move it to Florida, what could possibly go wrong during hurricane season?)

The Associated Press got its hands on audio recordings that apparently show China wasn't as transparent to the World Health Organization about the coronavirus outbreak as the organization originally claimed. According to the recordings, China held off on releasing the genetic makeup of the virus that causes COVID-19 for over a week after decoding it and didn't provide data on patients for another two. The report claims the WHO praised China's transparency in order to coax more information out of it. Interesting tactic.

President Donald Trump denied multiple news reports that he took refuge in an underground White House bunker Friday night during intense protests outside the building over George Floyd’s death. Trump claimed he only visited the bunker during the day for “a short inspection. It was a false report. I wasn’t down [in the bunker],” on Friday evening, Trump said on Fox News host Brian Kilmeade’s radio show.

First daughter and senior White House advisor Ivanka Trump “urged” her father to take part in a controversial photo-op with a Bible according to a new report from The New York Times.

Televangelist Pat Robertson on Tuesday condemned President Donald Trump's response to nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd and police brutality, saying "you just don't do that, Mr. President"

After being told he wasn’t allowed to take a knee with protesters in Oklahoma over the weekend, a police officer resigned from the force, KOCO reports.

A new Bloomberg report says one-third of the unemployed who deserve benefits have not been paid!

It misted and drizzled all day here barely hitting 78 degrees.

Today I won at parcheesi 6 games to 5.

James Mattis, the esteemed Marine general who resigned as secretary of defense in December 2018 to protest Donald Trump’s Syria policy, has, ever since, kept studiously silent about Trump’s performance as president. But he has now broken his silence, writing an extraordinary broadside in which he denounces the president for dividing the nation, and accuses him of ordering the U.S. military to violate the constitutional rights of American citizens.

While Teresa watches her telenova from 8:30 to 9:30 I’ve started playing 10-minute games on Chess.com. So far, I’ve been getting killed but better to lose there than in a tournament.

A Trump replay from March 4th: “So we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that just get better, by, you know, sitting around and even going back to work.”

The US has 1,817,454 ð 1,838,521 ð 1,857,612 coronavirus cases with 104,833 ð 106,101 ð 107,045 deaths.

Per Medellin Guru, as of this afternoon Colombia has a total of 30,493 ð 31,833 ð 33,354 cases with 1,045 deaths.  Medellin has 556 ð 578 ð 594 ases, an increase of 16 from June 2nd to June 3rd. Looking at the 6-day average Colombia’s curve is now beginning to increase again.

Joke of the day

While serving in Vietnam, my friend and his buddies were hunkered down in a mud-filled hole that had been dug into the side of a berm and covered with lumber for protection.  Their one extravagance: a bare light bulb they’d hung from the “ceiling”.

One guy was reading a newspaper article from back home about a congressional investigation into why some troops were living in relative luxury.

The guy put down the paper, turned to my friend, and said, “Well, there goes the light bulb.”
