Thursday, December 17, 2020

Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, got up 2-3 times during the night, finally waking at 6:30 and getting up at 7:30. I feel pretty good, we’ll see how that continues, or maybe I’ll need a nap later.

My back still feels good when I get up in the morning. If, and when, the stiffness comes back maybe I’ll play around with taking a few Ibuprofen once a week to see if the pain goes away again.

It’s been a few days since we’ve had rain so maybe we are out of the rainy period and into summer here once and for all. But it’s pretty overcast today so we’ll see if any rain develops.

Teresa left the apt at 8:30. She had 2 bags of clothes with her to donate to charity. I left the apt at 9:15 and walked to the mall. First, I tried to make a withdrawal from the Davavienda ATM but it had no cash. Maybe that’s why there wasn’t a line. I went down to Todo Fresa where I had a café con leche and read some more of my new chess book. In Exito I make a withdrawal from their Davavienda ATM. I asked for 260mil wondering if it would include 3 20s or a 10. I didn’t know if it gave 10s. It does, I got a 10 and the rest of the bills were 50s. Now I know.

I bought a large package of toilet paper and returned to the apt by taxi.

Teresa returned at 11:45 with another cake from Pepo’s Cake, this time strawberry.

I had a 2-hour chess lesson with Juan Castro.

We watched another episode of Fargo, season 4.

No rain today!

Joke of the day

The graveside service had just ended when there was a frightening clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightening accompanied by even louder thunder.  The little old man looked at the pastor and said, “Well, she’s there.”
