Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, got up once during the night, finally waking at 6am and getting up at 6:30.

I understand we are now under quarantine until 5am Tuesday January 12^th but I believe we can still walk for health reasons.

Marcos and I chatted at 8:30 as to whether to go for a walk because it was raining lightly. We reconnected at 9am and agreed not to walk today.

Howex resigned the game that he was winning earlier. My rating went up 63 points to 1440. He said something about my game is better than his and that I should test myself against 1700-1800 players. He didn’t challenge me to a rematch so he may have given up.

At noon it is only 76 degrees, another cool day here, probably caused by the early morning shower.

Now I’m playing someone from Catalonia, userid 64Cuadros, an area of Spain that has attempted to form their own country. His rating is only 1256.

Teresa asked me if I wanted some ice cream. I forgot she bought a quart last night. I said “sure” and she brought it out from the refrigerator. I squeezed it and told her it’s liquid – she forgot it needs to be in the freezer.

I had a 1½ hour chess lesson with Juan Castro. He’s on vacation somewhere near a beach but his internet wasn’t that strong and sometimes he lost power completely.

Teresa beat me in parcheesi today 4 games to 3.

I beat Matt Daly twice more increasing my correspondence rating on Chess.com to 1461.

Health officials say Arizona has become the global hotspot as the governor resists restrictions.
