Last night I went to bed at 10pm, got up once during the night, finally waking/getting up at 6:30am.
I forgot to mention yesterday, May the 4th be
with You!
The street is very wet so we must have had a lot of rain
overnight.
At 8:15 I left for the gym which was not as busy as usual. I
forgot to mention yesterday afternoon we heard a couple of loud cheers during
our games (not for us). The two Medellin teams, Atletico Nacional and DIM were
playing each other which ended in a 1-1 tie. I mention this because maybe a lot
of fans were partying last night and slept in late this morning.
I completed my workout as usual. I was on the treadmill when
I saw the word “queda” on the Cheyron for Sports Center and was looking it up
on my cellphone when my treadmill suddenly stopped. It turned out I let myself
wander too far back and the tether triggered the emergency stop. I reset it to
finish the last 10 minutes.
If I had to mention one thing about getting older, I would
mention my legs seem to get heavier every year.
I had a latte in Ganso y Casto for about 90 minutes.
This is a fairly common bird here with a distinct cry:
This pit bull was hoping to get lucky catching a squirrel
but it stayed safely away.
I returned to the apt about 10:30.
I’ve been exercising my little finger when I think of it and
now I’m finding it easier to type.
I just completed a speed test from my computer and got
315.98 Mbps download and 435.72 upload.
Teresa returned at noon with a few groceries.
Using my gift card balance I purchased an Amazon Firestick
4K Max to be delivered to my brother’s house with an expected delivery date of
Thursday, May 8th. I’m still trying everything I can to get a better
Medellin TV connection.
Teresa had asked me about Carotenemia. I looked it up and
you can get it from eating too much of certain things like carrots, papaya or
avocado. The irony is almost every lunch she asks me if I want avocado and I
always say, “no” but I’m sure she eats a lot of it.
I left the apt at 2pm and today tried this new café (at least new for me) Anamasté Boutique Café:
I had a latte while reviewing my English Opening notes.
The waiter saw my chess notes and came out with a small
magnetic chess set, like the one I bought from India, that visitors can use. He
also mentioned they have books in English inside for reading. I followed him
inside and they had about a dozen books including “1984”. A girl at a nearby
table asked me in English where I’m from. We had a little talk: She has an
embassy interview later this month. I told her not to be disappointed if she
doesn’t get a visa as most young girls don’t, even though she has family in New
York. (I didn’t tell her she’s also too cute.) I asked her to tell the waiter I
have a book in English to contribute to their library (I’m thinking my Paper
Towns by Mike Green) and he said he would gift me a free latte. Sounds like
a deal. Now that I have a Kindle with free books and I don’t know if the used
book store in Envigado is still open, I can get it off my desk.
While I was there we had a rainstorm come through for about
20 minutes necessitating me to move away from the open wall.
I paid for my latte (about 10,600 pesos) left at 4:30,
printed My Medications and Wellness spreadsheet at the copy center, and bought
a bag of milk in Ara on the way back to the apt.
I finished watching Hostage and then watched Britain
and the Blitz on Netflix.
It was about 8:15 when I noticed the downpour outside. I’m
wondering if we’ll ever have hot, dry weather here again.
I went to bed my usual 10pm.
FUNNY

Terry, I live in Dallas, Tx. This is the rainiest spring ever up here. We have had long strings of many consecutive days of rainwith only a couple of days of respite where the sun shines. The rain will come and go all day long. These are not the spring showers we are used to. Instead they are the type where Noah's wife would be yelling at him to finish that damn boat.
