Self-isolation Day 47.
Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly and didn’t wake up until 6am. I got up and got a drink of water and returned to bed. I soon heard an owl that hooted between 9-14 times before giving it a 30 second rest. I finally gave up and got out of bed. Later Teresa told me it wasn’t an owl but a pigeon.
Teresa informed me that she wants to build a strong wall in the back of the finca because of the severe drop off. She estimates the cost at 5-6 million pesos but we can’t start work on it until at least June because now we are entering the rainy season.
We took a nap from 10am to 11:15.
My Samsung cell phone did an update and now there is a Coronavirus app on there. It appears Colombia wants people to use that to report home illnesses.
I watched Chapter 8 – Be Creative of IM Mat Kolosowski’s Attacking Masterclass video training.
I received an email from Best Burger advertising a meatless burger.
I finished Dan Brown’s Origin.
As some states begin lifting coronavirus safety restrictions, the director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security says he worries the country will see waves of new COVID-19 cases through summer and fall.
Trump sought to reassure Americans that it is safe for states to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic, offering support to protesters who have railed against the lockdowns across the country. He also scaled up the estimate he has used for the number of expected dead — projecting that the U.S. toll may be as high as 100,000, up from his prior prediction of 65,000 — while emphasizing that he takes the novel coronavirus seriously, noting that three of his friends have died after contracting it.
Remdesivir, a drug that has shown promise in reducing recovery time for coronavirus patients, will start going out to U.S. hospitals this week.
In a Jan. 23 briefing, Trump was told the virus was poised to spread globally from China and that becoming infected wouldn’t be deadly for most people.
Per the NY Times, the US has 1,153,303 cases with 67,365 deaths.
Per Medellin Guru, as of this afternoon Colombia has a total of 7,668 cases with 340 deaths. Medellin has 285 cases, 6 more than yesterday.
Joke of the day
Bill and
Marla thought that they had discovered a genius way to pull off a Sunday
afternoon quickie with their 12-year-old son in the apartment.
He was
sent out on the balcony and told to report on all the neighborhood
activities.
The boy
began his commentary as his parents put their plan into operation.
"There's
a car being towed from the parking lot," he said.
"An
ambulance just drove by." A few moments passed.
"Looks
like the Andersons have company," he called out.
"Matt's
riding a new bike, and the Coopers are having sex."
Mom and Dad
shot up in bed.
"How do
you know that?" the startled father asked.
"Their son is standing out
on the balcony too," his son replied.
