Last night I took Diphenhydramine and Zopiclona tablets and went to bed at 10pm, fell asleep quickly, got up once at 4:30, had trouble falling asleep after that, finally waking/getting up with Teresa at 7am.
Teresa has a plate filled with coins so I put 3,400 pesos in
each front pocket and left the apt at 9am. I quickly caught an Envigado bus,
handed the driver my fistful of coins and he dumped them in a plate without
counting them.
I got off at Las Vegas clinic and went up to office 422,
Doctora
Cristina Maria Uribe Betancur. The receptionist gave me an appointment
for 10am so to kill time I went down to the main floor and had a latte in De
Lolita.
I was let in her office at 10am and told her my concern
about visiting my newborn granddaughter. She repeated, it's not contagious and
can't be transferred to anyone else or their bed, clothing, etc. and my
symptoms should all be gone by the end of the month. At my request she gave me
contact information for two doctors to do a skin prick test for allergies. I
understand both are in San Diego Ophthalmology clinic.
She didn’t charge me anything and I quickly returned to
Envigado by bus using another fistful of change.
Btw, it was 2 years ago today my daughter got married in
Greece.
I did a quick (only took an hour with ChatGPT’s help)
analysis of my games with the White pieces (correspondence only, not vs Jose)
and found when my first move is:
1.d4 (263 games) the results are
60% Wins
14% Draws
26% Losses
1.c4 (23 games)
65% Wins
13% Draws
22% Losses
I finally figured out what 1549 represents, it’s my
Chess.com rating after my latest loss to Troyclough.
We left the apt at 12:30 and took a Didi to El Tesoro mall.
We had lunch in Il Forno, salmon for Teresa and lasagna for me, we
shared a bottle of water and the check came to 107,402 pesos ($27).
Teresa checked out Zara and H&M but didn’t
find anything she liked.
We were surprised to see the leather store, Velez, has a café
just inside their front doors.
She bought a couple things in Medipiel for 291,310
pesos ($78). I’ve noticed their sign outside the store now shows MDP in
addition to Medipiel so maybe like KFC they’re in the process of
evolving their name.
We stopped in Valentina’s and shared a slice of
carrot cake with coffees.
We left at 5pm, she bought a yoga towel in Decathlon
for 129,000 pesos ($32). I thought a yoga towel would be used to dry your face
but she puts this thin mat on top of the gym’s mat to give her a thicker but no
slip surface.
After a 15-minute wait we returned to the apt by taxi for
20,000 pesos.
Teresa talked to Kelly on the phone and since her boyfriend
is in town, they want to meet with us. Supposedly he speaks English. They decided
we’d meet at 6pm in Crepes & Waffles in Santafe mall tomorrow. If
though they invited us I won’t be surprised if I end up picking up the check.
The additional plan for tomorrow morning is Teresa will get
her hair and nails done at a beauty shop and I’ll take the broken Wurden Panini
Grill to Home Center to see if it can be repaired for a reasonable cost. I told
Teresa I checked and it’s 7 years old and cost 200,000 pesos and my usual rule
of thumb is if the repair costs more than 50% of the original price it’s best
to buy a new one. She agreed but said we don’t have to buy a new one as she can
use the plates themselves over the stovetop burners when she wants to make hot
sandwiches.
I watched the first half of the Chargers vs Chiefs game and
the Chargers were giving the Chiefs all they could handle.
FUNNY

Terry, the price for the taxi ride appears to be excessive. Was it a long trip, bad traffic or a combination of both???
ReplyDeleteHaving lived in Mexico for five yrs. I think you are correct in your assesmnet of who picked up the bill, even though they invited you. My Mexican friends always assumed I would pay. They did invite me to have meals and attend parties at their casas. I think I came out ahead and their company was delightful.
