Last night I took my Diphenhydramine and Zopiclona tablets and went to bed at 9:30 on Jimmy’s couch, soon fell asleep, got up once during the night to pee, again because for the first time ever I had a cramp in my thigh, woke up at 5am but didn’t get up until 6am to start my day.
I left the apt just before 8am for Pancake Café Wrigleyville, hoping on the way to find a place selling newspapers. I checked at the gas station but the only one they had was days old. I had a nice breakfast at the Pancake Café of eggs, hash browns, sausage, English muffin and coffee.
I returned to the apt and a few minutes later we drove to
his high school, Lane Tech, and he got out and I headed north on Lake Shore
Drive to Highland Park. Jeannie was happy to see me and the first thing I did
was take Rebel for a walk. He pooped and I picked up his mess with a plastic
bag and put it in a garbage can.
Rebel is a 65# pit bull with a lot of energy and he doesn’t
understand what’s going on. When the baby makes any sound at all Rebel starts
whining and we try to assure him that everything is okay. We take turns holding
the baby and keeping Rebel from getting too close to her.
I asked Jeannie what they needed most (clothes? diapers?)
and she said a Doordash gift card so they can order food without having to worry
about cooking. I tried sending her one but my card was declined. (Later I got
it cleared up with my bank – not sure if it’s because I’m in the US, have a
different phone number, too large of an amount but I got it squared away with
USAA.)
Our previous neighbor when we lived in Glenview, Ann Pruise,
came over and helped Jeannie get something to eat.
At 2:30 I walked Rebel again and I left at 3:45 as Jeannie
was expecting more company soon.
I drove to The Works in Glenview where I had an
Italian Beef sandwich and a root beer. Good but not as good as Johnie’s
or Mr. Beef.
I drove to Walmart where I explained I must have left
a bag behind with 3 items. The person in customer service asked me to retrieve
the 3 items and return with the debit card I used. I did and the 3 items
matched my original purchase and they gave me a receipt and I left.
I stopped at a gas station and purchased today’s Chicago
Sun-Times.
I was driving south on Dee Road approaching Devon with Maine
South high school on my left and the forest preserve on my right when a hawk
took off from the curb and flew in front of my car with a mouse in its talons.
That was cool!
Around the corner these deer were eating grass on the side
of the road.
I stopped in a busy Chicago Fashion Outlets mall where I
looked for the other purse Teresa wanted from Lululemon but no luck.
I returned to Jimmy’s apt in heavy traffic.
I think the Cubs were playing the Cardinals tonight and
while you can’t see the game you can see the ballpark from Jimmy’s apt.
And then I zoomed in a little:
I spent some time on the crossword puzzle then went to bed
at 9:30.
FUNNY
