Last night I watched the 2008 movie In Bruges (8.0) starring Colin Farrell with Ralph Fiennes on Netflix.  After a job goes wrong in London, two hit men are ordered to lay low at a bed-and-breakfast in Bruges, Belgium, until their boss contacts them.  This movie was a little strange but enjoyable!

I caught another lizard – this one was about 4 inches long and I caught it after a few minutes of chasing it up the wall and put it out on the balcony.

I went to bed at 11, took a little while to get to sleep, woke up at 5:15, 6:45 and finally woke/got up at 7:50.

The currency exchange rate closed Friday at 1964.70 to the USD according to my iPad app so I decided to take advantage of this high rate.  At my usual Davaviendi ATM I got the message “Your transaction is not performed due to technical faults” but I didn’t have any trouble with the ATH ATM.

I had a leisurely breakfast at the Golden Palermo Hotel from about 9 to 10:30.

Back at the apartment I went to www.MigracionColombia.gov.co, selected Tramites, Cedula de Extranjeria, then clicked on the Cedula de Extranjeria logo and then
CÉDULAS DE EXTRANJERÍA POR ENTREGAR [Formato PDF]

but my Cedula number is not in the list.  When it is, then my Cedula should be ready to be picked up.

At noon I left the apartment and who did I see waiting for the same bus at Avenida 80 but Beatriz’s son Felipe.  I told him I was sorry that it didn’t work out between myself and his mother and he said not to worry as that was something between the two of us.

I got off the Circular 302 bus, walked up the hill and cut through Oviedo CC to become a little more familiar with its layout and on the other side in their parking lot they was a mini obstacle course set up and they were letting people with their pet dogs try it.

I was at Santafe mall at 12:50, I waited until 1:50 and finally left.  I had asked James for his cell phone number (which he didn’t give me) and gave him mine so I don’t know what could have gone wrong.

I caught a San Lucas Ruta 135 bus at 2:05 a block down from the mall and I wanted to take it to Calle 49 or 50 but it turned right at Calle 46 and most people got off so I did also.  I walked across the street and a block west and I found what I believe is the San Diego Exito.  I walked another 4 or 5 blocks north and west and I was at the bus stop across from Parque Berrio.  (I didn’t know they were so close to each other.)

Taking the Simon Bolivar bus I was at Sport Wings at 2:45 waiting for the AFC Championship game to begin at 3pm.  At 3pm James Antle called me but the music was so loud I couldn’t really hear him.

I had a hamburger with fries and 2 Cokes for a late lunch.

At 3:50 Bob’s friend Pablo came in with his girlfriend and informed me that they were having a 1 year anniversary party for Bob.  I knew the anniversary was tomorrow because Bob and I were on the same plane.

At 4pm Bob came in with Margarita, Michael with his girlfriend, and Harry.

At halftime the score was Denver 13, New England 3.

I finished my book If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon.  It was even good the 2nd time around.  Did you know that before he wrote novels he won a Tony award for Broadway’s Redhead and an Academy Award for The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer?  And he wrote 25 screen plays including Easter Parade (with Judy Garland) and Annie Get Your Gun, both of which won him Screen Writers Guild Awards.  He wrote six other Broadway hits and created three long-running television series, The Patty Duke Show and I Dream of Jeannie which he also produced and for which he received an Emmy nomination, and Hart to Hart.

For the first time I downloaded a book straight from my Nook, Tom Clancy’s Executive Decision which continues right where Debt of Honor left off.

At halftime I heard Happy Birthday over their PA system.  It wouldn’t have hurt to have invited me to join their group – they were even sitting right behind me.  At least Bob gave me a piece of their “birthday” cake.  That was nice of him.

Denver ended up beating New England pretty easily 26-16.

I saw a trailer for a new movie The Monuments Men starring George Clooney.

Bob and his group left about 6:15 before the 2nd game started.

I had 6 chicken wings and a mango juice about 8pm for my dinner.
I realized I meant to stop at Los Mejores this morning to see if Damaris was there.

San Francisco was ahead of Seattle 10-3 at halftime but Seattle ended up winning 23-17 in a very sloppy game.

My total bill was 41,580 ($21.88) including a 9.25% tip.

I was back at my apartment by 10pm.  I had an email from James apologizing for missing our appointment because he has a multi zone watch and it got reset – or something like that.

It’s almost 11:30 and I just heard a round of fireworks coming from the south.

  1. Hi,
I enjoy reading your blog occasionally since I might want to retire in Medellin someday. One thing that surprises me is the cost of food. It certainly is not cheaper than my city in the USA. You had wings and mango juice for $21.88. that's is pretty pricey. I have compared other meals that you have documented and the prices are almost on par with my city in North Carolina.

    1. Hi Steve,

You overlooked that he said "total bill was $21.88". That included a burger, fries, and two Cokes he had before the AFC game, PLUS the six wings and Mango. PreyPr reasonable.
