Last night I took my Diphenhydramine and Zopiclona tablets and went to bed at 10pm, got up once at 4:45am, finally waking/getting up at 7:15.
Happy Birthday Teresa!
Laura sent me more Punta Cana resort possibilities on
Expedia, flights included:
·
Ocean Blue and Sand Beach (8.4) for
$1873pp.
·
Serenade Beach and Spa Resort (8.6) for
$1900pp.
·
Majestic Mirage (9.2) for $3368pp.
I looked at the most recent reviews and almost all had some
seriously negative comments about the food except the last one, merely one
person that said, “Food was disappointing.” But it’s too expensive.
Including here my Barcelo Bavaro Palace (8.0) for $2084pp
whose recent reviews are pretty good.
I was checking Santafe de Antioquia on Booking.com and found
the Hotel Boutique Lomas Colonial (500m from downtown) for December 23rd
to January 2nd $1309-$1430, American breakfast included. Sadly,
Teresa doesn’t remember our stopping in there so she wants to go for a day trip
next Sunday to check it out.
We left the apt at 10:10 and took a Didi to Exposiciones station.
For some reason the Tienda D1 across the street was closed. We got in a
short line and 10 minutes later the bus arrived. We had no problem getting our
usual seats in the back and we left at 10:45.
Teresa was hoping to get to El Retiro’s church for noon
mass.
On the way we passed a Weber Grill store. What? I googled it and found this:
That’s a bit of a surprise.
We arrived in El Retiro right at noon. Teresa was in no hurry to get to the church so I guess noon mass is no longer a consideration. She had a restaurant recommendation from a girlfriend and she guided me across the park and up to a second level to a restaurant named Central.
Boy it
looked familiar, pretty sure I had lunch here with my brother. (Another example
of Teresa not considering when I recommend a restaurant but she will a girlfriend’s.)
She had their ribs and I had a burger. The fries were very
good and they even had ketchup that weren’t in plastic packages. 😊
The total check came to 89,046 ($23).
We explored the area a bit and found a small cafe where they
sell little Peruvian cakes. Teresa got four of them to go.
Of course, we had to stop in the church for a few minutes. I
understood she wanted to come back for 4pm mass.
We walked down to Café El Retiro where we each had lattes
and one of the little cakes. They were okay, nothing special for me.
We walked around a bit more then Teresa noted a dark cloud
in the distance. She was afraid we would soon have rain so she decided to skip
church and we headed back down to the bus. (I didn’t tell her the cloud was
moving in a different direction from us.)
We quickly got on a bus back to Medellin for 20,400 pesos.
We retraced our steps and were back at the apt by 5:30. I ran
next door to Ara and bought a bag of milk.
Jeannie sent me this photo of her with a girlfriend and their babies.
I started watching 60 Minutes but the topics didn’t
interest me so I watched a couple more episodes of Designated Survivor
on Netflix.
FUNNY
