Last night I watched a couple more episodes of my latest TV series – The Killing.  Not one who usually likes detective shows, I recommend it very highly.  Just when you/they think you/they know who the killer is – surprise!

I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly and woke/got up at 7am.
I had my usual breakfast at El Comedor de Chava and then studied Spanish until noon.

I had a slice of banana cake and a medium vanilla latte for 8,800 at Juan Valdez in Viva CC.  While sitting there, a young mother had her 2 year old son carry some of their table garbage to a trash can.  I caught his attention, he came over and I gave him my cup holder to throw away.  As she was leaving, she said to me in English “you’re not from around here” and I replied “No, I’m not from around here”.  You never can tell who speaks English and who doesn’t!  I bought a bag of milk in Exito, lugged it back to my apartment, and stored the individual bags in my refrigerator.

At 1:30 I had a bowl of cereal and at 2pm I left for Mayorca CC.

I arrived at Mimo’s in Mayorca at 1:55 and 15 minutes later Teresa and Laura arrived.  She searched through 2 floors with several shoes stores looking for something she liked.  She wasn’t sure if she wanted gym shoes or sandals (the latter perhaps being her mother’s suggestion).  She finally found a pair of pink Converse low tops for 120mil which I put on my debit card.

We took a taxi to Vizcaya CC where we bought tickets for the 7pm showing of The Expendables 3 for 7mil each.  It was only 4:30 so we still had 90 minutes until Mu opens.

Teresa was very hungry so we stopped in the theatre and she and Laura had 2 hot dogs and 2 large sodas for 23mil.

Teresa was intrigued by the bingo games going on in the Casino as we passed it on our way to the theatre.  On the way back we stopped outside where she observed the action.  Some ladies came out because it was too stuffy inside but they continued to play.  Teresa talked to one of them and later she waved us all inside to her table.  I was surprised that Laura was allowed in.  Teresa bought a card for 7mil and while she was playing someone brought everybody a small plate with a brownie topped with ice cream.  I warned them that we’re going to have a big dinner in about 75 minutes.  We left about 5:30 and walked the 4 blocks to Mu in 10 minutes.  Just to kill time we stopped at a little restaurant/bar (de Rio y Mar) across the street and I ordered a coconut lemonade for 6mil.  At 6pm we walked over to the restaurant and got a table upstairs.

For the first time I ordered the large order of ribs which if I remember correctly was only about 10mil more than the small order.  While waiting they brought us a plate of chips and guacamole.  Again I warned them that we will have a lot of food soon.  What I learned from Teresa: the shower heater is in and working, the light is installed, and her mover contact wants 425mil to move my things.

Fifteen minutes later it came.  There weren’t maybe 11 ribs – I think we each had about 3 – and there were 2 left over that Laura took with her.
As we walked back over to the theater I noticed it was 6:45 so 45 minutes was enough for dinner.

I was surprised there was only one person in line for tickets.  I’ll bet there is a line now at Los Molinos.  We were in our seats just a couple minutes before it started.  I had to sit through the same short, in Spanish, about the Pied Piper of Hamlin.

Teresa and I later confessed we really didn’t care for the movie, too much violence, but it was worth it to see Laura swooning over Jason Statham.
Afterwards, we walked over to Parque Lleras and put Laura in a taxi to Envigado.  We easily found another for ourselves and were back at the apartment by 10pm.  We went to bed at 11pm.

T-shirt of the day: Texas Longhorns.
