Self-isolation Day 23.

Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, got up twice during the night, woke up at 5:45, couldn’t fall back asleep, got up at 6:30 and had a drink of water, closed the blinds and turned on the fan, finally fell back asleep, finally waking/getting up at 8:30.

According to ABC News, US intelligence officials were warning as far back as late November that the novel coronavirus was spreading through China's Wuhan region and posing a threat to its people and daily life.

Another 6.6 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week.

Dr. Janis Orlowski, chief health care officer of the Association of American Medical Colleges, “I believe that we're going to return to a semi-normal life at the end of May — Memorial Day.  But the other thing that I would say is that we have to prepare ourselves to go through a similar exercise in the fall, in the late fall. If you take a look at the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic, and if you take a look at how coronavirus is acting, this is not just the winter and spring of 2020. Probably late November, by December, we are going to go through this again.”

The CDC traced Chicago’s outbreak to two family gatherings: a funeral and a birthday party.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told CNBC on Thursday that he believes companies could reopen in May as long as Trump "feels comfortable with the medical issues."

There are signs that Sweden’s “herd immunity” choice might not be working.  https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/swedens-relaxed-approach-to-the-coronavirus-could-already-be-backfiring/ar-BB12ohla?ocid=spartanntp

The Trump administration says its going to go ahead with plans to end federal support for coronavirus testing on Friday.

A judge has ruled that unaired footage from the reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice should be handed over to a group of entrepreneurs who say they were scammed by Donald Trump and his children.

CNN’s Oliver Darcy reports that Vice President Mike Pence’s office has refused to allow the country’s top health officials to appear on the network to discuss the coronavirus crisis because Trump’s daily briefings are no longer aired there in full.

On a day that New York State reported 799 deaths from the coronavirus in a 24-hour period, Trump tweeted “The Wall Street Journal always ‘forgets’ to mention that the ratings for the White House Press Briefings are ‘through the roof’”.

First, it was the media that was at fault. Then, Democratic governors came under fire. China, President Barack Obama and federal watchdogs have all had a turn in the crosshairs and now it’s the World Health Organization that's to blame. Trump is falling back on a familiar political strategy as he grapples with the coronavirus pandemic: deflect, deny and direct blame elsewhere.

Contagion was on Direct TV so I watched it, again.

Joke of the day

I asked to switch seats on a plane because I was sitting next to a crying baby…

Apparently that isn’t allowed if the baby is your own.
