Self-isolation Day 38.
Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, got up once during the night, finally waking/getting up at 7:30.
Teresa called Antica pizza and we had 3 slices and 2 Cokes delivered for 44mil. I tipped the driver 6mil beyond his 5mil delivery charge.
Trump at Thursday’s press briefing: "A
question that probably some of you are thinking of if you're totally into that
world, which I find to be very interesting. So supposing we hit the body with a
tremendous -- whether it's ultraviolet or very powerful light. And I think you
said that hasn't been checked, but you're going test it. Supposing you brought
the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some
other way. And I think you said you're going test that too. Sounds interesting.
And then I see the disinfectant where
it knocks it out in a minute. One minute.
And is there a way we can do
something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see
it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number in the lungs. It would be
interesting to check that. You're going have to use medical doctors with that,
but it sounds interesting to me. And so we'll see."
Prompting the manufacturer for Lysol, a disinfectant spray and cleaning product, to issue a statement warning against any internal use after President Trump suggested that people could get an “injection” of “the disinfectant that knocks coronavirus out in a minute,” NBC News reports.
Reckitt Benckiser, the maker of disinfectants Lysol and Dettol, released a statement Friday that its products cannot be injected or ingested to combat coronavirus.
"As a global leader in health and hygiene
products, we must be clear that under
no circumstance should our disinfectant products be
administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other
route). As with all products, our disinfectant and hygiene products should only
be used as intended and in line with usage guidelines."
Here’s an awful truth our government will tell you but not for some weeks to come: as of today more than 20% of American workers are unemployed.
In February 4.4% of the labor force was unemployed, the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on March 9. That was 7.1 million people out of work using the government’s narrowest measure of joblessness. Using a much broader measure the jobless rate at the start of March was 8.7%.
Over the next seven weeks initial claims for unemployment benefits were filed by nearly 24.9 million American workers.
Add those two numbers: 32 million people are without work as of last week.
If just a half million people filed jobless claims between April 20 and today the unemployment rate has exceeded 20%.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Friday research showed that strains of the novel coronavirus first entered his state from Europe, not China, and that travel bans enacted by U.S. President Donald Trump were too late to halt its spread.
He said the U.S. was too slow to respond to the coronavirus outbreak as it was proliferating in China in January, projecting that the virus had likely infected more than 10,000 New Yorkers in February.
America’s patchwork private-public health care system consumes 17% of the economy, unparalleled globally. But it wants you to stay home with your COVID-19 unless you are among the minority at risk of death from suffocation or complications. It wants you to heal from anything you can without a doctor’s touch and put off surgeries of all kinds if they can wait.
Joke of the day
If at first
you don’t succeed… try doing it the way your wife told you.
