Last night we went to bed at 10pm, took me a while to fall asleep (maybe an hour?), got up once during the night, finally waking/getting up at 7:45.

I took Teresa to Walker Brothers Pancake House for their famous apple pancake. As usual she resisted the idea but loved it when it arrived. (She is a lover of apples.) Not that she’ll want to have it often, but we’ll take Laura here when she arrives.

I drove up Rand Road to the Best Buy where I easily exchanged the cellphone screen protector for a case and got a $5.50 refund to boot.

I turned in to a strip mall to turn around and Teresa noticed the store in front of us specialized in birds. We went in and marveled at all the bird houses, hummingbird houses, and nesting materials for birds.

I drove us to an area called The Grove and we went into The Kennicott House and she marveled over the mini zoo (mostly snakes and turtles) they had. Outside we sat in the shade for a bit but it’s just too hot these days. She saw her first chipmunk but called it a squirrel. I checked the translation and that’s what they call it in Spanish. I drove us to Panera Bread where we shared a broccoli cheddar soup and she had a Coke and I an iced tea (once I’d cooled down).

We left at 4:30 and returned to the apt.

My son sent me a link for White Sox parking and with some difficulty I managed to purchase parking for $33 and with Jim’s help got the receipt sent to my cellphone.

We left the apt at 5pm and I followed Waze for the drive to White Sox Park, eventually found the correct lot, met Jim outside Gate 4 and we entered just as the game was starting.

The Sox gave up 3 runs to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first inning and 2 in the second inning and it was downhill from there but it was nice to see all the fans walking around in their Sox jerseys and t-shirts and even 3 guys dressed up informally as El Papa (the pope).

After the 6th inning we walked around the inside of the stadium eventually buying a Chicago Style Hot Dog for $8.99, a Diet Coke for $6.99, and a Regular Coke for $6.99 and stupid me I tipped them $3.82 for a grand total of $29.26. At least the hotdog tasted good though the bun was so fresh it fell apart.

We left after the 8th inning and in the end the Sox lost 10-0. Jim guided us to Lake Shore Drive using lower Wacker Drive which I haven’t been on for probably 50 years. We dropped him off at his condo in River North and he briefly went to the lobby and returned with a Father’s Day gift – a book, John Green’s Everything is Tuberculosis and a box of English toffee and chocolate turtles from The Fudge Pot in Chicago.

I gifted him a bag of Colombian coffee.

We’re going to meet up sometime next week for breakfast and take a walk along the lake.

Oops, I went through a toll booth on I-294.

I’ll need to address that soon.

FUNNY
