Last night I went to bed at 10pm, waking/getting up at 5am.
6 days remaining.
So the plan is to leave here at 11:15, walk to Ayura station
and take the metro to Exposiciones where we will catch the noon bus to El
Retiro.
I was lying on the recliner at 8:10 when we experienced a strong tremblor that gently rocked my recliner and shook the sliding glass balcony doors.
While Teresa was saying prayers out loud, I enjoyed the brief
body massage.
At 9am Teresa informed me she doesn’t want to go to El
Retiro; can’t I buy coffee here? Of course I can. TBC – To Be Continued.
My right knee still feels a little tight.
We left the apt at 11am, walked to Ayura station, and took the metro to Exposiciones station. Downstairs, the El Retiro bus was just arriving. It waited about 10 minutes before departing nearly empty. It did pick up people on the way. One of the passengers surprised me because she had a golden lab with her.
I asked Teresa if it was a pet or was it working (meaning a
service animal). The owner heard me and answered me in perfect English, “You
can bring a dog but you have to cover its seat with a blanket”. I paid 10,000
pesos per person when we got off in El Retiro. With all the times we’ve been
there Teresa didn’t know which way to go. ☹
We walked up to the park to our usual restaurant Lomo
Fino but there was a line outside. She led me back down the hill a bit to a
small restaurant named Frutos del Paraiso.
We took seats and I ordered rice with chicken and vegetables
and a Coke. I went to use the restroom and when I returned a couple minutes
later, Teresa had a bowl of soup in front of her and she was telling the
waitress something about not even any dressing on the salad and I don’t know
what else but she got up, I paid 7mil for the soup she only tasted, and we
left.
Back to Lomo Fino there was no line but we had to
wait 15 minutes or so for a table. We each had their chicken breast and I had a
Coke. I tried to pay for it with my debit card but for some reason it didn’t
work so I paid in cash.
Teresa showed me this hotel she wants us to stay at some
weekend.
We walked back down the hill and a block over where I located
the small store selling coffee. It took several tries to get them to tell me the
bags contained beans but they ground them there. I bought six bags and they
ground them in a few minutes. While that was going on I was thinking if my
debit card doesn’t work, I’m screwed because I don’t have enough cash with me.
Luckily, my card worked, they withdrew 168,000 pesos ($42.50) from my debit
card, we put them in my Dollar City bag and walked back up the hill to Café
El Retiro. I like the place but once again we got a table with stools that
I thought would be okay because we could lean back against a wall. Not the same
and my back soon started aching. But my knee is fine again. I had my last latte
with this aptly named cookie that was very dry and tasteless.
We left at 5pm, walked down the hill to the bus station and
immediately got on a bus back to Medellin.
We arrived at the Exposiciones station by 6:30 and took a
taxi back to the apt. We got out outside Ara and I had just enough cash
left to buy a dozen eggs and a bag of milk before returning to the apt.
FUNNY SIGNS
