Last night we went to bed at 10pm, took me maybe an hour to fall asleep, slept through the night, finally waking/getting up at 6:15.
Lake Geneva, where we’re headed today, is predicting rain about
1pm but if my timing is right, we’ll be off our cruise boat and having lunch
inside Popeye’s by then.
We left at 8am, an hour ahead of schedule, and drove to Deerfield
Bakery in Buffalo Grove. Teresa ordered 2 eggs over medium (Now I know how she
prefers her eggs) with sausage and wheat toast. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled with
sausage and wheat toast and also a pecan roll. We each had medium lattes for a
total of $34.88 and I paid in cash.
We continued on to Lake Geneva and after figuring out their parking payment process, bought tickets to the 11am boarding of Lady of the Lake just as the boat was about to leave.
This was a 1-hour cruise of the main millionaires’ homes on the lake, including Maytag and Wrigley. (Fun fact: early in the ‘70s I walked around this lake with a Methodist church group. Probably took 6 hours or so.) The tour was interesting and we had pretty much our choice of seats with the other couple dozen people on board. Just a few photos of houses that came out well:
We found a shady spot near the beach where we sat and cooled
off a bit. We walked a block to their main street where they have lots of
touristy shops that Teresa has yet to see. I added another hour to our parking
meter then we had lunch at an outdoor table at Harborside Pub & Grill
(I was planning on next door at Popeyes) where Teresa had chicken
quesadillas and I had a burger and we both had Pepsis (wow, the plural of Pepsi
sounds like a disease). Teresa ate half her order but got a couple quesadillas
to go. The check came to $58.37, including tip. We checked out a couple more
stores then filled up our gas tank with cheap (relatively) gas and returned to our
apt.
I now owe tolls for the Waukegan and Golf Rd toll booths.
Just before 6pm we lost our in-house internet connection,
but it came back 30 minutes later.
I did a small load of colored clothes in our washer &
dryer, leaving Teresa astounded once again.
I received an email that my library loan has ended. Tonight,
I’ll find out if the book is downloaded to my Kindle (I can continue reading) or
not (I’ll have to sign it out again).
I got my Illinois’ Pay by Plate account set up but I’ll wait
a little bit longer before I start paying tolls.
I finished solving Wednesday’s Sun Times Crossword Puzzle. 😊 I guess I’ve still got the touch!
FUNNY
