Last night I went to bed at 9:30, fell asleep quickly, slept through the night, finally waking/getting up at 7am. Wow, I feel great! 😊
Last night I drank the small bottle of NyQuil (liquid
diphenhydramine) I bought in the airport and fell asleep quickly.
According to my Fitbit, I got in 3,051 steps yesterday and
last night I slept for 8 hours and 53 minutes for a sleep score of 84.
I turned on my cellphone and it soon started a software
update.
This morning I did something I don’t remember doing for 13
years or more. I filled the tub with warm water and took a bath. 😊
I soaked in it for a few minutes, then shampooed and
conditioned my hair, put body wash all over my body, rinsed in the tub then
turned on the shower to get a clean rinse.
Teresa finally woke up just after 8am right after I came out
of the bathroom.
We have Wi-Fi but we don’t have internet. ☹
At 9:15 we left our room and went down to the restaurant for
breakfast.
We had a nice breakfast. We each had the American breakfast
with eggs, house potatoes (I prefer Chicago hashbrowns), choice of meat and
toast. I also had a banana muffin and we each had coffee.
Teresa wanted to go for a walk but I told her I’m not going
to walk in the sun. Outside the entrance I noticed a van labeled Homeland
Protective Services. We walked to the end of the hotel and the van came closer
but stopped like they were watching us. We turned a corner and walked to the
end of the shade before returning to the hotel.
We took a sofa and Teresa called Laura then her mother. I
guess that works with Wi-Fi even though we don’t have internet.
Just after 11am we returned to our room but the key didn’t
work. We returned to the desk, the girl recharged our key and informed us that
checkout is at 11. I told her all other hotels check out is at noon. She said
it was a new policy. I told her I didn’t get the memo. She said no problem she
would extend us to noon. We returned to our room and the key didn’t work again.
I returned to the desk and she made up a new key and this one worked. We soon
got our stuff together and checked out at the front desk. That was easy!
We had only a 10-minute wait for our shuttle to the airport.
I understand United uses terminal C but most international flights originate
out of terminal E so that’s where the driver dropped us off. I quickly
confirmed we were in the correct terminal. We went through the TSA check and at
the end a guy asked me to open my backpack. He took out my toiletry kit and
confiscated my small bottle of Head & Shoulder shampoo. 😊
Still, no one has every caught my pair of scissors I always
bring with me.
We had a 7-minute walk to our gate, E8, with 3 ½ hours
remaining until our flight.
About 2pm we went to Subway where we each had half a chicken
sandwich. On the way back to our gate I finally found what I had been on the
lookout for – a package of Fritos corn chips. The plan was to have them with
drinks on our flight back to Medellin.
Our flight left on time with Teresa in an aisle seat and me
in the middle seat next to her. I watched The Shawshank Redemption for
the umpteenth time. 😊
We landed in Rionegro right on time at 9:05pm.
After a trip to the restroom we waited together in the
Preferred Line (no line to speak of) and passed through Immigration without
difficulty. At baggage claim I figured if one our bags made it through then
they all probably did. Thank you Houston we found them all except the fancy tag
on my suitcase had sluffed off. We were waved through customs and found an
airport taxi to take us to our apt in Envigado for 141,000 pesos (as compared
to the 200,000 pesos we paid for Julian to take us to the airport in the
unnecessarily large van).
We unpacked enough so we could go to bed, getting to bed by
11pm. As an experiment I just took a full diphenhydramine tablet with no zopiclona.
