Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, got up once during the night, again at 6:30, finally getting up at 7am.

Teresa informed me that pico y cedula has changed. Today cedula’s 1,2,3 can go shopping, Tuesday 4,5,6 can go, Wednesday … (I checked Medellin Guru and it’s only for April 13-15, thus: Tuesday 0,1,2,3 Wednesday 4,5,6 and Thursday 7,8,9.)

I left the apt at 8:45 and met Marcos outside his apt complex at 9am. We walked to Parque Envigado where he had his watch reset and bought a battery for the scale in his house. We then went to a photo store where he ordered a photo printed from his cellphone. He’ll return tomorrow to pick it up. We walked to Parva where I bought café con leche and we chatted a bit. He mentioned it’s only the beginning of summer in Phoenix but it is already hitting highs of 115 degrees, and lots of people are still moving there. Yikes!

I stopped at the little grocery store for milk but it was “closed” and the lady said something in Spanish I didn’t understand. I’ll try again later.

After lunch I tried taking a nap but was unsuccessful.

Jose returned my text informing me he has an appointment with his surgeon tomorrow so no chess.

I left the apt at 3pm and walked to Parva where I had coffee and bought a pastel de guayaba to go for Teresa. While sitting outside I observed the “street nazi” guiding a car into a space right in front of me. He and a couple other men were looking at the front of the car and the one word I understood was “animal”. I looked under the frame in front but couldn’t see anything. A man reached inside the front of the grille and pulled out a colorful bird and placed the body on the curb across the street.

I left about 5pm and bought 2 bags of milk at the small grocery store on my way back to the apt.

Teresa beat me in parcheesi today 4 games to 0.

Wow, no rain today and I think we hit a high temp of about 82 degrees.
