I fell asleep quickly and didn’t awaken until 6am when the dogs were having a barking contest.  At 6:30 the fireworks testing started.  I woke/got up at 8:45.  It’s been a while since I’ve had a good night’s sleep.

Laura left just before 4pm to join some of her school friends.

She came back at 7:30.

I watched more episodes of Criminal Minds.

I took my sleeping pills and a Dristan tablet at 11:30pm and went to bed.

  1. Well Terry, I've just made it thru the entirety of your blog from start to finish. I have found that it offered up some very itneresting perspectives on the city (Medellín) and its envirions.

I hope your spanish continues improving so that you will be more able to interact with los colombianos that you run into. I think this will ultimately bring Colombian culture into better focus for you. The upside of that will be that you will then be able to better understand those everyday little 'cultural discoveries' and report on them in your blog.

That is something which I –and I am sure other readers of your blog– would really enjoy hearing more about. They don't have to be anything earthshattering. Just everyday little things that differ from northamerican culture. Some of those little differences can be really fascinating.

I am retired, like you, and very close to your age and have residency in Costa Rica. I have been traveling to CR since 1976. I settled into Alajuela (near the Int'l Airport) and have an tiico-style apartment there.

I spend half my time in Alajuela and half in Tampa, FL. I enjoy tico (= Costa Rican) culture and of course the climate, especially in the rainy season when it stays cool. I speak spanish and have made quite a few friends and acquaintances in CR.

Keep up the good work with your blog, Terry.

    Buena Suerte & ¡Cheers!

    Paul M.
