Last night I took a Zopiclona and went to bed at 10:15, got up once during the night, waking/getting up at 6:15.

My back still feels good with slight stiffness but no discomfort.

Teresa left at 8:45 for the gym.

I left at 9am and walked to the copy center. (On the way I saw Brit and his son outside Los Portenos.) I had something printed then walked to Parva. A young man got out of his taxi and asked me if I had change for a 50mil note. Since it was folded I first unfolded it and looked at the hologram to make sure it was authentic. I gave him 2 20s and a 10. In Parva I got a pan sano to go and had a café con leche and a pastry there.

I was back at the apt by 10:30.

Teresa returned at 11:30.

About noon we had a short shower.

I finished all 6 sesons of Bosch.

At 1:30 it started raining again. We had a 2pm reservation at NY Restaurant and Lounge. Teresa said something about delivery but I wouldn’t think of it. We each took an umbrella and we left the apt at 1:50. At the porteria Teresa ordered a taxi which dropped us off in front of the restaurant only 5 minutes late. They had a small outside table that thankfully was protected from the rain but it soon stopped anyway. The dinner plate included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, ham, pumpkin something, vegetables, and a warm dinner roll. Dessert was bread pudding (I think). The total bill came to 160mil (about $45). Teresa loved everything and when it comes to food she is hard to please.

On the walk back to the apt Teresa told me there’s a new Argentinian restaurant down the block we have to try. I asked her how she knew about it and she said her friend brought her there for a sandwich. She resists going to restaurants that I suggest but she’s okay when one of her friends recommends one?

Today Teresa and I tied in parcheesi 3 games to 3.

I watched Pawn Sacrifice on TV (not for the first time.)

As America heads into a Thanksgiving as unusual as any in modern history, families are once again divided—with some insisting nothing should stop them from traveling to gather with family and friends, and those who will stay home, isolated, rather than risk exposure to the coronavirus.

“The fact that we can’t give up traveling during this one holiday shows that we still don’t understand what freedom means...we’re nine months in, and we haven’t learned a damn lesson,” said Jon Sternfeld, whose new book, Unprepared: America in the Time of Coronavirus, documents the first six months of the pandemic.

Early in the pandemic, many researchers feared people who contracted COVID could be reinfected very quickly. This was because several early studies showed antibodies seemed to wane after the first few months post-infection.

It was also partly because normal human coronaviruses, which are one cause of common colds and are cousins of SARS-CoV-2, do not generate long-lasting immunity, so we can get reinfected with them after 12 months.

But new preliminary research suggests key parts of the immune system can remember SARS-CoV-2 for at least eight or nine months, and possibly for years.

A North Carolina businessman and Republican donor filed suit in federal court saying he was duped by a Texas group that claimed they would file lawsuits to uncover election fraud on behalf of President Donald Trump.

Fredric N. Eshelman, founder of venture capital firm Eshelman Ventures LLC, said he donated $2.5 million to Houston-based nonprofit True the Vote Inc. to support the organization's investigations into "illegal and fraudulent conduct" in the 2020 presidential election.

The complaint filed Wednesday in Houston federal district court alleges that True the Vote CEO Catherine Engelbrecht told Eshelman that the lawsuits would require more than $7 million in financing to acquire sworn affidavits as well as to develop "sophisticated data modeling and statistical analysis to identify potential illegal or fraudulent balloting."

Joke of the day

A husband and wife go to an adoption agency looking to adopt a child. They are well dressed and well spoken, and the social workers are quite impressed with them. However, when asked about their profession, the couple say that they run a circus.

Hearing that made the social workers raise an eyebrow. It didn't sound so good to them, an environment with animals, that is moving all the time? Doubts were raised about their suitability as parents.

So the couple produce photos of their 55 foot motor home, which is clean and well maintained and equipped with a large and spotless nursery. The social workers are happy to see this but then raise concerns about the kind of education a child would receive while in the couple's care.

The husband puts their mind at ease, saying, "We've arranged for a full-time tutor who will teach the child all the usual subjects along with French, Mandarin, and computer skills."

Next though, the social workers express concern about a child being raised in a circus environment.

This time the wife explains, "Our nanny is a certified expert in pediatric care, child welfare, proper nutrition and exercise - all that a child requires."

Their questions met with such excellent answers, the social workers are finally satisfied and ask the couple, "What ages were you looking to adopt?"

The husband says, "It doesn't really matter, as long as they fit in a cannon."
