Last night I took a Zopiclona and went to bed at 10:30, got up at midnight, 3am, 6:15 (due to a loud radio playing from a Coca Cola truck parked across the street), finally waking/getting up at 8:30 as Teresa was leaving for the gym.

I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, took a shower, shaved, and lef the apt at 9:45. Luckily, I caught a Sabaneta bus at Avenida Poblado. I was in line outside Tigo/Une by 10am. At 10:08 I called Teresa to see where she was but she didn’t answer. She showed up a minute later. She went across the street for a tinto but returned not 2 minutes later. She said something to me that I didn’t understand then she jumped in a taxi waiting at the red light. She motioned me to join her then she explained that Tigo/Une was at the apt waiting for us.

The muchacha hooked up a new router quickly then we waited for about 20 minutes for some reason. Then she said it will take 2 hours before the new router is working with 50Mbps. In the meantime she plugged the old router back in and told me when it stops working then that’s when I make the switch.

We left right away for Mercado Madrid grocery store. Teresa got a call that our internet change has been completed. We returned to the apt by 12:30.

I switched routers and entered the new network name and password into my notebook computer.

I did a speedtest using Speedtest.net and it registered 61.32. Nine days later and we’ve finally got our 50Mbps internet.

I then changed the network and password on each of our cellphones.

I’ll change them for Medellin TV later when Teresa isn’t busy watching the news.

I noticed raindrops at 1pm.

We took a nap in the afternoon.

While Teresa was still sleeping, I checked Medellin TV. The movie portion worked fine but I couldn’t get any of the TV stations. After trading emails with Rob he realized he forgot to renew my account and soon the TV was working fine again. This time no buffering. We’ll see if that continues. If everything works fine, I’ll then start weaning Teresa off Direct TV and on to Medellin TV. And we’ll see how much this change costs me with Une.

The United States has recorded a quarter-million Covid-19 deaths, the latest NBC News numbers showed Wednesday, and the death rate has been accelerating in recent weeks as cases have been surging across the country.

The 250,000th death was logged Wednesday morning, the data revealed.

In the last four weeks there has been a 42 percent increase in the number of fatalities, from a weekly average of 821 per day in early October to last week’s average of 1,167 per day, according to an NBC News analysis of the available data.

And a year after the first Covid-19 infection was reported in China, people were dying in America at a pace not seen since mid-August, the analysis showed.

In other coronavirus news:

·       The New York City public school system, which is the largest in the country, will temporarily halt in-class education and resume virtual learning because of a surge in new Covid-19 cases, schools Chancellor Richard Carranza announced.

·       The federal Food and Drug Administration has authorized the first Covid-19 test designed for users to take at home, which provides results within an hour.

·       The Pfizer vaccine will be submitted for regulatory approval "within days," and the final analysis suggests the drug is even more effective than previously thought.

·       Congress remains deadlocked over a coronavirus relief bill, and lawmakers in both parties are pessimistic about passing one in the near future. "I'm kind of discouraged, frankly, right now," Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said.

·       The Biden team is going to have to figure out how to work in the cramped quarters of the White House during a pandemic. "The entire functionality of the White House is people crammed around desks and huddling at a meeting," a Biden adviser told NBC News. Trump's team has not been as careful, and multiple people inside the White House have been infected, including the president.

·       Dr. Aileen Marty, an epidemiologist and infectious disease expert at Florida International University, called the advice Gov. Ron DeSantis used to justify his decision to loosen restrictions Florida seven weeks ago "utter and complete junk."

·       Starting Tuesday, an upscale New York City restaurant will test patrons for Covid-19 before they are allowed inside. City Winery New York will be the first restaurant in the country to create a “100 percent COVID-tested” space, spokeswoman Hanna Bruy said. It also means an extra $50 will be added to the bill.

Two more House members announced Wednesday they have tested positive for Covid-19 and are isolating, the latest in a string of diagnoses that have hit Capitol Hill.

The cases brings CNN's tally to 26 House members and eight senators that have so far tested positive or been presumed positive.

The US has 11,200,491 ð 11,387,763 ð 11,581,881 coronavirus cases with 245,700+ ð 247,900+ ð 250,100+ deaths.

Per Medellin Guru, as of this afternoon Colombia has a total of 1,205,217 ð 1,211,128 ð 1,218,003 cases with 34,563 deaths. Medellin has 112,197 ð 112,772 ð 113,103 cases, an increase of 334 from November 17th to 18th.  Envigado has a total of 9,097 cases, an increase of 50 from November 17th to 18th. New infections appear to be on the decline again. Hopefully, they will stay that way.

Joke of the day

Once upon a time, a powerful Emperor of the Rising Sun advertised for a new Chief Samurai.  After a year, only three applied for the job:  a Japanese, a Chinese and a Jewish Samurai.

"Demonstrate your skills!" commanded the Emperor.

The Japanese samurai stepped forward, opened a tiny box and released a fly. He drew his samurai sword and *Swish!* the fly fell to the floor, neatly divided in two!

"What a feat!" said the Emperor. "Number Two Samurai, show me what you can do."

The Chinese samurai smiled confidently, stepped forward and opened a tiny box, releasing a fly. He drew his samurai sword and *Swish! *Swish!* The fly fell to the floor neatly quartered.

"That is skill!" nodded the Emperor. "How are you going to top that, Number three Samurai?"

The Jewish samurai, Yoku Cohen, stepped forward, opened a tiny box releasing one fly, drew his samurai sword and *Swoosh!* flourished his sword mightily, but the fly was still buzzing around!

In disappointment, the Emperor said, "What kind of skill is that?? The fly isn't even dead."

"Dead," replied Cohen in contempt. "Dead is easy.  Now circumcision, that takes real skill."
