Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, got up once at 4am, catnapped after that, finally waking/getting up at 7:30.
Teresa left for the gym just before 8am.
I left the apt at 10:20 and again there was a
10-minute wait for a taxi. Unlike last time when the driver took some back
roads this driver took the main roads and the traffic was heavy. I still
arrived at Dr. Juan Guillermo Ortega’s (corneal specialist) office five minutes
before my 11:20 appointment. I had to fill out a single page form with my
personal information. Two others were taken before me and I went in about noon.
The doctor spoke good English, asked me a number of
questions about my medical history, then examined my eyes with a couple
different fancy machines. He said something about calcium cyst in a single area
of my cornea. He wants to consult with a few colleagues, but the problem can
probably be cured with special eyedrops. He will email me the results.
I left at 12:30 and paid 220mil for the consultation
using my debit card.
Outside I caught a taxi to Mercado del Rio on Avenida
Las Vegas in Poblado. The place has changed a bit since last time I was there
over 15 months ago. Some restaurants have closed, including Sinko (a
play on the word Cinco), and others have opened to take their place. I had an
order of ribs at the location where I used to order them but I think it was
under new management. Outside I quickly caught a taxi back to the apt.
Teresa was still there but she said she plans on going
to El Tesoro.
I walked to Parva where I gifted them one of my
$2 bill but told them it was just for good luck and not to spend it. I had a
café con leche which I nursed for a couple hours.
When I returned to the apt Teresa still hadn’t left
for El Tesoro. She said something about the traffic being bad.
Teresa mentioned something about my surgery starting
at 11am. I asked if they changed it
because at first you said it was at 10am. She found a piece of paper where she
had written June 28 and 12. (I wonder what other surprises she has for me.) She
mentioned her mother has missed 3 doctors’ appointments for her lungs because
neither MT nor Wilson wrote them down.
Today I clocked 4,689 steps.
Just before gong to bed Teresa said something about
rain. I thought I heard fireworks figuring some important soccer game had ended
but I looked and she was right it was drizzling.
One of my readers asked for more (?) photos so I'm going to try here:
Well, not in the order I chose. The second is the entrance to Mercado del Rio and the first is a pool table I saw. Usually, Colombians play billiards so it's obviously for gringos.

Thank you for the pictures. My brain pictured the food court location totally wrong. It looks like a very nice place.
