Last night I went to bed at 10:30, fell asleep quickly, and didn’t wake/get up until 5:45. Wow, I slept through the night, pretty surprising considering the Coke I drank late last night.
I left the apt just before 8am for my walk under a
blue sky. Just past the halfway mark my right ankle started feeling a little sore.
The same ankle I broke (fibula) when I was about 50 years old. The discomfort
didn’t get any worse and I returned to the apt 50 minutes and 5,800 steps later.
And then there’s my right knee which I had no problems with when I was able to
do extensions on the weight machine in the gym.
Teresa left at 9am for her gym classes.
My ankle feels back to normal.
I left the apt at 10:30 for my 11:20 doctor’s
appointment. For some reason there was a 15-20 minute wait for a taxi but I
still arrived 5 minutes early. I sat in the large waiting room until noon when
I was invited back to see the doctor. She checked my vision again, photographed
my right eye and was surprised the eyedrops she prescribed hadn’t fixed the
problem with my cornea. I guess before I misunderstood; I thought she
eliminated the cornea as a possible problem. She wants me to see a Corneologist
– Dr. Ortega - in San Diego ophthalmology clinic tomorrow at 11:20am. (Per
internet he is a specialist in
cataract surgery and refractive surgery.) There was no charge for
my office visit.
She didn’t dilate my pupils so I walked 2 blocks to
the restaurant Parmessano in La Strada mall. (Yesterday I checked
Medellin Guru to see what restaurants are inside. At first I thought it said it
was closed but then I realized it was just the food market.) I had a chicken
dish with a mango juice that was very good. I had such an attentive waiter I
tipped him 10mil.
I walked across the street and after a few attempts to
hail a cab I got on an Envigado bus. Problem was it was packed and I had to
stand the whole way with my leftovers in a bag in one hand and the other
holding onto the overhead railing. I got off at the gas station and walked down
a block to Parva. Teresa called and asked me to bring here a pastel de
guayaba.
I can’t wait to return to the gym. Lately the only
cardio I’ve gotten is those few seconds of panic when you think you’ve lost
your cellphone. 😊
Just before 5pm we had a short shower. I guess it
still counts as rain.
Teresa wants to go for pizza tonight but it depends on
if it’s raining or not.
I invited Teresa to join me at the clinic tomorrow and
afterward we can go to Premium Plaza for shopping and lunch – unless the doctor
dilates my pupils in which case I will be returning promptly to the apt.
I finally found the setting to change my laptop’s news
back to English.
I watched the last 20 minutes of the Colombia
Venezuela football game won by…wait for it…nobody. Another exciting 0-0 tie
(sarcasm).
Did I mention that the doctor will also repair my
umbilical hernia during my surgery?
Troyclough went on vacation and he has the better
position.
Even though there were still raindrops we left the apt
at 7am but the portero told us it was too difficult to call for a taxi. We
walked over to Calle 30 Sur where we quickly flagged own down.
We each had our usual slice of pizza then Teresa tried
something new – blueberry pizza. I tried a piece but didn’t care for it.
For upcoming movies In the Heights and The
Tomorrow War look interesting.
My plan after my appointment tomorrow is if the doctor
doesn’t dilate my pupils then I will have lunch at Mercado de Rio. Otherwise, I
will be heading back to the apt via taxi posthaste.
We had more rain by the time we went to bed at 10:30.
Today I clocked 10,236 steps.
