We left the hotel about 10:45 and took a taxi to Port Lavrio. It was a windy, cool, overcast day. We went through several stations to drop off our bags, check-in and go through the usual TSA scan. For some reason, they changed our cabin from 3149 to 3017. A bus took us closer to our cruise ship, Celestyal Olympia but we had to walk the last 100 yards or so in a cool strong breeze.

One of the first things we learned onboard is we wouldn’t be visiting Mykonos tonight due to technical difficulties.

A guy working for the ship gave us a hard sell on buying a drink package that would cost €30 per person per day. (Good decision we declined because we ended up not coming close to that since drinks are included with all the buffet meals.)

Our cabin had 2 bunk beds, one for each of us (Laura on top) and one for Teresa’s and my suitcase. Laura has one of those oversized suitcases. The bathroom is about the size of an airplane bathroom plus a small shower. There was some closet area with shelves and hanging rods that we didn’t make much use of, I guess because we’re so used to living out of our suitcase.

Right away, probably as soon as everyone was onboard, they had a lifeboat drill. We went to our cabin, got our life vests and went to our station.

We had a buffet supper in their dining room on deck 9. It was a madhouse and with no available tables, we took our food outside to an area we found a little sheltered from the wind.
