My brother had his first Colombian
breakfast of a fried egg, arepa, crackers and tea.
On the way out we met the neighbor’s
daughter Christina who speaks some English.
It looks like she lives with her mother and son. She seemed excited to
have someone to speak English with.
Dilan still needed money for a taxi and
I only had a 20 mil bill so he took the taxi with us downtown, we exchanged
dollars for pesos and I gave him 20 mil for bus fare.
We stopped at a pharmacy and with Jim's help I
bought some eye drops (Freegen; 2 for 1) for 28,920 pesos.
We walked around town, took some
pictures, walked around Parque Bolivar and took the metro north to the end of
the line in Niquia. We went into the
mall there and had some juice at 10:30 – Once (break).
We stopped at Exito on the way home
and Jim and I bought the same fan – a Samurai 2 in 1 for about 79,950 pesos.
Later, as I understood it, we were
going to Cousin Angela’s house for a while then get something to eat and then
Jim wanted to look for a place with live music.
Also, Angela wanted to borrow 100 mil until tomorrow.
When we got a block from Angela’s,
she and Aunt Gloria were standing on the corner. I handed her the 100 mil and she handed it to
Gloria and then she got into the taxi with us.
We then went walking and stopped at 2 different places for drinks. An hour and a half or so later we stopped at
another Piccolo’s and had pizza. This
time it was topped with chicken.
We wanted to go to Parque Arvi the
next day but we were afraid of crowds so we decided to investigate Sabaneta - a
small town just south of Medellin instead.
They happened to mention that there was a swimming pool there.
