Sunday, June 15th, 2014

We finally got up about 8am and showered.  I couldn’t believe that Teresa showers in cold water.  I can end my shower in cool but not cold water but I have to start with at least warm water.  I also couldn’t believe the hotel only left us 2 small hand sized towels in the bathroom.  I had paid for breakfast with my hotel reservation and they gave us a receipt which we took around the block to a restaurant where we each had a nice omelette and a blackberry juice.  We went back to the hotel for a short nap, packed our things, paid for the chips we ate the previous night and left our bags at the hotel.   (Btw, as I was packing my things I found 2 large bath towels on a shelf. Lol.  We had a good laugh over that.)

I wanted to make see if my debit cards would work at the ATMs so we stopped at the only one we saw - a BanColombia machine.  I was surprised when I was able to withdraw 50mil using both my Citibank and USAA debit cards.  I wonder if there will be extra fees because it wasn’t an ATH or Davivienda?

They have a 2 hour yacht voyage called The Majestic that includes a buffet and 2 drinks.  It leaves on Saturdays at 5:45pm and Sundays at 1:45pm.  They had the cost crossed out with a magic marker but I think it said 70mil. We decided to leave that for another trip.

We walked around a little then took a motochiva (like a covered jeep) to El Penol.  We walked around the shops and took some pictures.  Teresa finally allowed me to buy something personal for her.  She had a straw hat that was falling apart and she found a nice replacement for 10mil.

We took a small chivas bus back to Guatape and had lunch again at El Fogata.  She had fish again and I had the ribs and we each had a juice.  I gave her one of my ribs and she like it so much I thought she was going to want to switch entrees.  She invited me to spend December with her in New Jersey at her mother’s house.  Of course we will need to go to Bogota to apply for a visa for her – as my wife.  I told her, not so fast.  We saw an advertisement for camping and she told me it’s something she likes to do.  I told her I do also so we’ll see if anything comes of that.

We bought our tickets for the trip back on the 4pm bus for 24mil which gave us just enough time to retrieve our bags from the hotel and make a quick restroom break.  The bus left at 4:15 and while I was relaxing in my seat a thought occurred to me.  I turned to her and said “we’re not going to spend December in New Jersey – it will be cold and snowy”.  She changed her mind to next June.

We were back at the bus terminal by 5:45.  We took the metro to San Antonio, transferred to another line where we took the metro to Floresta station.  (After we bought our tickets the policeman at the revolving gates (I don’t know what else to call them) waved us through without using them so tomorrow I’ll see if they work a day after the purchase.  If they do it could come in handy in the future in order to avoid having to wait in long lines for return trips.)   A short taxi ride of 5mil and we were back at my apartment where we took another nap.  She left her hats at my place because we’re planning on going to Santa Fe for the day on Saturday.  Tomorrow we’re meeting for dinner in Envigado to watch the US play Ghana.

We stopped in Exito where she picked out some Hindú Descanso Natural tea for me to help me sleep.  I escorted her back to the bus stop below the Aquacatala metro station.  She said she wants to invite me to her finca after the World Cup is over.

BTW, Santos was re-elected for another 4 year term as President over Zualaga.

T-shirt of the day: This might tickle.
