Last night I went to bed at 11pm, quickly fell asleep, got up once at 4:45, closed the bedroom window as one of those trucks that carry cars pulled up outside, went back to bed, quickly fell asleep, finally waking/getting up at 7am.

Teresa is taking her mother to the doctor this morning and after either going to the gym or meeting me for lunch.

I watched the first 20 minutes of the Today show and left for the gym.  This was my first time back in 9 days.  I completed all my exercises in an hour.

At noon Teresa called me and asked me to meet them for lunch at La Bahia at 12:30.  Then I understand we’re going grocery shopping at PriceSmart.

I arrived at La Bahia right on time and we had a nice lunch for 12mil each.

Teresa informed me she had to take her mother to a doctor in Parque Envigado.  I told her I had to pay the Direct TV bill so she should call me when she is finished with her appointment.  I went into Exito and got in a line of about 8 people.

When it was finally my turn I handed the cashier last month’s bill along with a note that had the account number along with a different payment amount.  (Teresa had gotten me the correct amount yesterday.)  The cashier said something about a different code and I didn’t understand anything else.  I left and went into Todo Fresa where I ordered a café con leche and awaited Teresa’s call.  No sooner had I put sugar in my coffee when Teresa called wondering where I was.  She said she was in Exito and I asked her to meet me by the payment area.  (I understand she just got an appointment with a specialist.)

When I found her she said she had already talked to someone and we could pay at Polato whatever that was.  She guided me outside the side entrance to a booth with the name Bolato (sp?) on it.
Teresa talked to the rep and I understood their connection to Direct TV wasn’t working.  She said we could pay at Bancolombia.  We went up to the 2nd level and in Bancolombia we were told we couldn’t pay for Direct TV there. Outside we sat on a bench and I soon saw the girl rep I had talked to 4-6 weeks ago about World Remit.  I asked Teresa to talk to her and the girl said she had a friend who spoke English.  She introduced us to Bryan who spoke very good English.  Over the next 15-20 minutes I explained my concern about receiving my own cash via World Remit and paying my first of the month bills.  When he finally understood and ensured me I would be able to do it here the same as Parque Envigado I hit him with the clincher, my problem with someone else having my cedula number.  He checked my cedula number on his computer and agreed there was a problem.  I told him the solution was to put ‘300’ in front of my cedula number and he checked and said it still doesn’t work. He went and talked to his boss and when he returned he checked his computer again and reported that everything was now okay.  (I guess I’ll find out for sure in a couple weeks.)

We left and I still hadn’t paid the Direct TV bill.  We went back down to Bolato but their system still wasn’t working.  Teresa was tired so she sat down while I walked the couple blocks to a Gana store where I paid for Direct TV and returned to Exito.

Outside we jumped in the first available taxi and asked the driver to take us to Pricesmart but it was readily apparent the driver had never heard of it.  Teresa and a couple other taxi drivers tried to explain to him where it is.  Eventually we got out and got into the taxi behind his.  The new driver took us to Pricesmart.

I picked out a shopping cart right away but as we entered Teresa proclaimed she was hungry.  I wasn’t about to try to manuever the cart through the cashier lines so I just left it where it was.  We went into the food court where Teresa ordered a salad with chicken for us to share.

Back outside the food court Teresa seemed surprised the cart was gone.  I went down to the basement level and got another one
I found a few things I wanted like Planters Crunchy Peanut Butter and frozen blueberries but I didn’t find other things like Canadian maple syrup or Bisquick.

We checked out, I put most things in the 2 bags my brother had given me and we went downstairs where we quickly loaded our things into a taxi.  When we approached the Aquacatala station traffic was very heavy and the driver took a strange turn taking us onto the expressway heading north (the opposite direction of our apt).  He drove almost to Calle 10 before turning east and finally got up to avenida Las Vegas.  We returned to the apt at 5pm.
I left 30 minutes later and walked up to Avenida Poblado.  While waiting for Chuck and John a man tried to give me a flyer to vote for someone for mayor.  I told him I couldn’t vote.  A young man asked me if I knew where Loma Grande was.  I hesitated then pointed to the building across from Smartfit.  In English he told me that he thought he was close.

I finally found Chuck and John across the street and we took a taxi to the gringo meetup at 20Mission Cerveza in Poblado.

I walked through the restaurant looking for Jooks who said he would be there early but didn’t see him.

We ended up sitting on a sofa near the entrance.  I met a man and his 91 year old father who had recently arrived from Anaheim, California with their 4-year old lab/German shepherd mix.  I chatted with him for quite a while.

When the 3 of us got hungry we ordered food and moved to a nearby table that would be more comfortable for eating.  Jeff stopped by and I told him he should write articles on electric scooters and the new Envigado golf course but he said he already had those in the works.  I asked him about Motorrad Angels and that I had tried to make another donation but had the same problem – appeared impossible to do without signing up for Paypal.  I also emailed Ben Palmer but got no answer.  He said Ben is in the States and probably too busy right now to pursue the problem.

The three of us left about 8:45, caught a taxi at Avenida Las Vegas, dropped Chuck off near his apt, then John near Otra Parte and I got to take the taxi all the way to my apt.

12,394 steps today.

Joke of the day
A woman found herself standing at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter greeted her and said, "These are the Gates to Heaven, my dear. But you must do one more thing before you can enter."
The woman was very excited, and asked of St. Peter what she must do.
"Spell a word," St. Peter replied.
"What word?" she asked.
"Any word," answered St. Peter. "It's your choice."
The woman promptly replied, "Then the word I will spell is love. L-O-V-E."
St. Peter welcomed her in, and asked her if she would mind taking his place at the gates for a few minutes while he took a break. So the woman is left sitting in St. Peter's chair when a man approaches the gates, and she realizes it is her husband.
"What happened?" she cried, "Why are you here?"
Her husband stared at her for a moment, then said, "I was so upset when I left your funeral, I got in an accident. Did I really make it to Heaven?"
"Not yet," she replied, "You must spell a word first."
"What word?" he asked.
The woman responded, "Czechoslovakia."
